Service Project - Preparing Backpacks for the Backback Program
Again this year, Tim Horton's reached out to Shelburne Rotary to partner with them on their Smile Cookie Campaign.
Shelburne Rotary organized volunteers throughout the week to decorate smile cookies.
Decorators included Rotarians, Town Councilors, including the Mayor, and groups that will be supported with the funds raised.
Shelburne Rotary wants to thank all those who decorated, all those who bought cookies, and most especially Tim Horton's for being an amazing community partner.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and to honour Shelburne Rotarians (there were several who served), and all Canadians who served in WWII, Shelburne Rotary has made a donation to the Juno Beach Centre.
With our donation, Shelburne Rotary received a flag that has flown over Juno Beach, where Canadians landed on June 6 in the Battle of Normandy. Shelburne Rotary will be donating the flag to the Shelburne Legion.
The Town of Shelburne will fly the flag on June 6 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We hope that all those interested will be able to attend the flag raising ceremony at 10 am on June 6 at Town Hall.

what we heard - FRaud prevention
On May 16 Auxiliary Constable Jason Miles gave a presentation on Fraud Prevention.
We learned a lot about the difference types of frauds:
1. Romance Fraud - some people on dating sites are not who they say they are
2. Emergence Fraud - someone calls to say a relative needs money
3. Bank Investigator Fraud - you are asked to help your financial institution catch an employee committing fraud
4. Spoofing - call display is used to misrepresent who is calling
Some tips:
1. Hang up or don't answer unknown calls.
2. If it seems suspicious, it probably is.
3. DON'T CLICK ON ANY LINKS from someone you don't know
4. Check your child's FB to ensure non-friends cannot see their friends.
5. And finally:
● Stop. Take a moment to think about what is happening. Catch your breath. Don't feel rushed (that is how they put pressure on you).
● Challenge. Reject. Refuse. Ignore.
● Protect. Call authorities.

The Boys of 1905 video outlines the early days of Rotary International and includes the only existing archival footage of the founding members of Rotary at a meeting at the house of Paul Harris.

Lloyd is one of two corporate members from KTH Manufacturing, joining Rotary in 2015. He has lived in the Shelburne area for the past 35 years.
Lloyd started at KTH Shelburne in 1997, and just recently retired as a Senior Production Manager.
Lloyd enjoys being a member of Shelburne Rotary and contributing to making Shelburne a better place to live. He has continued as a member after his retirement from KTH.
Shelburne Rotary thanks Lloyd for his service to the community, and his desire to continue doing so. His hands on help has been invaluable to the success of our fundraisers and service projects.
