PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As you will see in this newsletter; meetings and events in the month of September covered a wide range of activities our club supports.
September also saw the continuation of planning for many of our upcoming events including our Fall Food Drive (working with CDDHS students and the Shelburne Food Bank) and Pumpkinfest on October 12.
Please support the Food Drive as you can and attend our Pumpkinfest for a great multi-generational family event.
Join us on Saturday, October 12 from Noon to 3 PM at Natasha Peterson Memorial Park for a fun-filled family event! Enjoy FREE entrance to a day packed with pumpkin-themed games, inflatables, face painting, a photo stand-in trail, and free pumpkins (one per family).
New this year, explore our vendor market with 30+ local vendors showcasing their amazing products. Grab an all-you-can-play wristband for just $10 to access the inflatables and train rides.

Drivers and helpers needed to go through Shelburne and pick up grocery items at doors.
The Shelburne Food Bank is in great need of groceries. This is your chance to help.
Town of Shelburne staff and Shelburne Rotary members were on hand to thank Ice River Sustainable Solutions of Shelburne for their donation of 10 Adirondack chairs as part of improvements at the Shelburne Rotary Splash Pad.
The chairs were installed by town staff, and are part of a series of enhancements that have included shading and Shelburne Rotary donations of benches and tables.
This new infrastructure is meant to enhance the enjoyment of what is already a great Splash Pad for residents of Shelburne and the surrounding area.
food bank food rescue van fundraiser
Members of Shelburne Rotary helped out at the Shelburne Food Bank's food rescue van fundraiser at Lennox Farm. Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser! The food rescue van is another step closer to realization.
What we heard: Girls Rugby
Eight members of the Varsity Girls Centre Dufferin and District High School Rugby Team visited Shelburne Rotary on September 19 to thank us for our financial support which helped them toward attending the Ontario Finals this past spring.
Shelburne Rotary is proud to support this inspiring group of girls (35 in all on the team), and we congratulate them on their accomplishment in winning silver last year, and we thank them for visiting with us.

On September 14, we heard from Will Pugh of Rotary District 7080 and Marie Rusch (a Rotary Youth Exchange student from Germany) about Rotary's Youth Exchange Program.
Shelburne Rotary is now discussing getting involved in Youth Exchange next year.
what we heard: district governor Sohail Naseer
On September 5, Shelburne Rotary welcomed our District Governor, Sohail Naseer.
Sohail spoke of Rotary’s theme this year, "The Magic of Rotary".
He spoke of what MAGIC meant to him. Motivation. Active/Action. Generosity (with our time). Inclusion. Connection (with our community).
I know his words ring true for all of us at Shelburne Rotary.

Friend profile: jeremy allen
This month, we profile a Friend of Rotary, Jeremy Allen.
I first moved to Shelburne from Orangeville when I was six.
I worked my way through local schools, starting at Highland Heights and then making the long move to Centre Dufferin and District High School across the road.
Growing up I was involved in Cubs, Scouts and then Cadets.
Each of these programs involved a portion of community service or volunteer work which I greatly enjoyed.
After completing my high school education, I entered the work force and followed a career path which has led me to a procurement role at a local parts manufacturer based near Dundalk.
In my personal life, I enjoy mountain biking, along with wood and leather craft projects.
Throughout my life, I found a true sense of accomplishment and belonging in helping others.
I know how important a sense of community can be, and I want nothing more than to see my community grow and prosper.
It's for this reason that I began to volunteer as a "Friend of (Shelburne) Rotary", to help with the many wonderful events and projects that they do.
Perhaps I'll see you during the Food Drive or Pumpkinfest on October 12th!
What is Rotary?
It was one of the questions that one of the CDDHS Varsity Girls Rugby team members that visited Rotary this month asked President Bill Waite.
While we will continue to discuss Rotary’s Areas of Focus under this heading, we will also expand it to include, other topics that help explain "What is Rotary?"
This month, Rotary's Area of Focus: Environment.
Rotary is committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment.
It is time we use our collective resources to invest in better ways to live life, while protecting our environment.
It is also a time as individuals, to do what we can, to strengthen the environment. If not for ourselves, then for our children and grandchildren.
Perhaps even one tree at a time or many trees with people working together.
