June was a great month with a very successful golf tournament. Special thanks to all those who participated, sponsored, or contributed in any way. Our community is better off because of these amazing events and people like you. Special thanks to Bobbi Ferguson and her great leadership to ensure this event runs smoothly. Thank you Sandra Gallaugher for another successful auction with a great array of items from local businesses.

School is just out for the summer but we are already preparing for back to school in September with our annual BackPack Project.
Last year we assisted more than 180 local students with the essentials for the school year by providing a backpack, lunch kit and water bottle. If funds are available we will also provide age appropriate school supplies.
Students are being registered through the Shelburne Food Bank during July and Rotary members will assemble the backpacks in early August and deliver them to the Food Bank for distribution.
The Museum of Dufferin is looking for volunteers to help with parking as well as other activities at the Earth & Fire Festival on September 20, 2025, 10am - 5pm, lunch will be provided. If you are interested, follow the link below.
We will once again we holding our greenery fundraiser for the festive season. It’s hard to think of the season in July but Sommerville Nurseries requires the order this month for delivery in November.
Sandra Gallaugher will be leading this popular event once again and will be confirming prices once she receives them and will send out the order form.

In the past six years this collaborative tournament has been successful in raising $110,000 in support of local projects.
We are very proud to say that, thanks in part to this tournament, the Shelburne Splash Pad opened in the fall of 2023 at Greenwood Park. In 2024 extra seating and sunshades were added to the Splash Pad area.
This year we are embarking on a new local project that will assist local entrepreneurs and contribute to alleviating food insecurity in Dufferin County with the development of a Commissary Kitchen.
The success of this tournament is thanks to our sponsors, golfers and volunteers. The continued support and enthusiasm for this tournament is greatly appreciated.

This year’s Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised a record-breaking $22.6 million, supporting over 600 charities and community groups across Canada and in the United States.
The Rotary Club of Shelburne was once again honoured to partner with the Shelburne Tim Hortons locations. The local campaign was also record-breaking, raising $19,030 to support the Shelburne Food Bank, the Christmas Hamper Program, the Backpack Program, and other local causes.
The cheque presentation from John Lewandowski of Tim Hortons to the Shelburne Rotary Club was immediately followed by the Rotary Club and John making a presentation of $5,000 from the proceeds of the local Smile Cookie campaign to the Shelburne Food Bank. The remainder of the proceeds of the campaign will be distributed soon.

We are embarking on a new and exciting project starting in September.
Thanks to a Rotary District Grant we are able to offer free cooking classes that we hope will encourage would-be everyday chefs to make fun, nutritious, and delicious food that is “cheaper than a meal deal”.
The recipes we will be preparing will be versatile and offer different starches, proteins and spice profiles to please many palates.
These four classes start in September and will be instructed by Jeannette French of Lennox Farm and are open to everyone. Come and join us and feel free to bring a friend, partner, child, or grandchild for a great cooking experience.

Due to the tremendous success of the Gala in 2025 we are doing it again!
This festive event raised sufficient funds to complete our $20,000 commitment to the Food Rescue Van as well as allowed us to make a sizable donation to the Shelburne Food Bank.
Not only was it a great fundraiser, it was a time to kick off the festive season with a fun-filled evening with wonderful community supporters who enjoyed delicious food, a lively auction, games and tremendous entertainment. It was truly a treat for all the senses.

On June 19 we had a presentation from Active Lives Canada a charitable organization that serves adults with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders (“exceptionalities”). It has grown from humble beginnings to offering day programs, respite care, and a summer camp.
Shelburne Rotary is proud to be an ongoing supporter of Active Lives Canada.
Our outbound Youth Exchange Student Mike, received his "red jacket" in June.
The jacket is used to affix pins that Mike will receive at Youth Exchange events while he is away in France.
While there, Mike will meet Rotarians from France as well as many other Youth Exchange Students from around the world that will also be studying there.

Shelburne Rotary has sent a "welcome email" to our inbound Youth Exchange Student Natalie, who is from Switzerland.
We are looking forward to her attending CDDHS, making friends, learning about Canada and our culture, and participating in our community.
Like Mike, her red jacket will soon have many pins from other Youth Exchange Students who will be visiting parts of Ontario from far away countries.
