Amanda West and Andy Stoll: EntreFEST
Tom Cilek introduced familiar guest speakers Amanda West and Andy Stoll who are hosting EntreFEST May 20 - 22, Downtown Iowa City. Entrefest is a conference to bring resources, people and support together to assist entrepreneurs with bringing something new to the world. Individuals attending will meet others and gain knowledge to help bring their ideas to fruition. 100 speakers from Iowa and the United States will share their experiences and celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurialism. Rotarians David Gott, Mark Nolte, Jim Conard and Brenda LaMarche will be part of the program. The conference will have four individual tracks: Business Owners; Community & Ecosystem Champions; Innovators Inside Existing Organizations; and Startup Founders. Two special themes will feature talks on "Workplace Culture" and "Ag Innovation". To register, go to entrefest.com/register. Cost is $299 for individuals. Team packages are also available.

MEETING
A moment of silence was held for former Rotarian, Jim McGregor, who passed away in Marshalltown, Iowa on April 23, 2015. Services were held earlier this week.
 
Singing:  Bob Crane led the singing of America the Beautiful and Viva La Rotary.
 
Announcements
  • President Bruce announced that the club is looking for someone to fill the club secretary position. This is a paid position. He also noted that we are in need of office space to store Rotary materials.
  • Kathy Jacobs announced that the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic will be hosting a fundraiser at the College of Public Health on Friday, May 8 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
  • Mark Pries noted that May is Mental Health Month. The Coralville Center for Performing Arts will be hosting  "This is ... my brave" on May 15th at 7:00 p.m. - an evening of poetry, essays and stories about mental illness. For tickets, go to  thisismybrave.org 
  • Eleonora Cherubini, exchange student from Italy and sponsored by the Iowa City Noon Rotary Club, gave a word of thanks for the opportunity to spend this school year in our community. She has lived with the Lynch family in Coralville and the Probst family in Iowa City and has attended City High School. She and President Bruce exchanged club flags.
Goat Rider
Ryan Heiar rode the goat. Ryan grew up in the Bellevue-Manchester-West Delaware area. He graduated from UNI in 2000 and has been the City Administrator of North Liberty since 2007. He and his wife Stephanie have two children, Tanner 14 and Ellie 9.
