RCOH members and their families teamed up to help sort donations at the Orangeville Food Bank.  Donations this year are down significantly this year and they are in need of the following items:

  • Milk, canned or powdered
  • Stews and soups
  • Whole grains like oatmeals and rice
  • Canned meats
  • Canned fish in water

Please check expiry dates, and please nothing homemade, they are not allowed to distribute home made products, as nice as they may be.

ImageOver the course of 3 days (Sept 14 - 16, 2012), Team Rotary worked with Home Depot and Optimum Home Improvements transforming the former small and outdated kitchen into a much larger kitchen with ample storage and space for the 20 youth that call the shelter home.  The other part of the renovation included new walls that were put up to separate the foyer from the office space and add a pantry for storing additional food.  Click on "More..." below to see read more, see the transformation and read the newspaper article on it.

ImageOur club hosted 17 Rotary Youth Exchange Students from all over the world September 15th and 16th.  They enjoyed a walking tour of some the beautiful tree sculptures in Orangeville, guided by Shiela Duncan, the Communication Officer for The Town of Orangeville.  This was followed by a challenging scavenger hunt along Broadway and then a night of camping in Hockley Valley.  On Sunday, the students were treated to a morning of frisbee golf and hiking in Hockley Valley before returning to their Rotary host families throughout Southern Ontario.

Taste of Autumn is our signature fundraising event. Proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Headwaters Health Care Centre, Sleeping Children Around the World and many other local and international causes and projects that The Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands supports. This memorable evening out started off at the Alton Mill where guests enjoyed champagne and canapes while socializing and joining in the excitement of outbidding others in the silent auction. A gourmet five course meal rounded out the evening at the Millcroft Inn & Spa. And, because we are fortunate to have so many wonderful donors to this event, an online auction with even more fantastic items ran for a week after the main event.

Thank-you to our many generous sponsors and silent/online auction donors!!
