HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EAST POLK ROTARY
Greetings East Polk Rotarians,

Thanks to those who were able to attend the CIVITAS meeting last Tuesday evening.  It was enlightening, and very sad, to hear the story of a victim of the tragic human trafficking industry.  She was led into it by a person she met at college who she trusted and even thought she would marry.  She had to endure a lot of suffering and heartbreak, but was finally able to get out of it with the help of government agencies and other organizations that work to end this evil business.   She is now a foster mother and is working to improve her life.  We also heard from a representative from Casey's Stores about their program to provide stickers for restroom doors with an 800 hotline number for people in distress situations to call in an emergency.  They drove from Des Moines to Sioux City placing these stickers in restrooms.  When they returned later and checked on the stickers, they had all been removed.  That's how fast these evil people work.  As with so many other organizations, they need more money for prevention programs.

Since we didn't have our regular meeting last week, tomorrow will be Business with Breakfast.have a regular meeting last week because of the CIVITAS meeting, we will have our monthly Business meeting with breakfast tomorrow.
Iowa Technology Exposition this Friday, May 12, at Southeast Polk High School.  Brett Rickabaugh just sent out an email with instructions for the judges.  Please plan to be at the school around 8:45 a.m.  Coffee and doughnuts will be available while we wait for our instructions from Brett and Ryan about judging that day.  Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m., so just stop by as you are finished with your judging task and have lunch.
