Plan Canada

Plan International Canada is one of the largest charities in Canada and a world leader in fighting gender inequality and extreme poverty. They have ignited the Because I am a Girl movement, a campaign that aims to transform power relations in order to help girls learn, lead, decide and thrive. We focus on eight core areas, including education, health, water and sanitation, protection, economic security, emergencies, child participation, and sexual health, including HIV.

Sam Murray grew up in Burlington and graduated from Carleton University in April 2016 with a degree in History and Human Rights. She has worked for multiple non-profit organizations, including the United Nations Refugee Agency, the Carleton University Women’s Centre and Peace Brigades International in Ottawa. She is currently on the newly formed Community Events & Organizations team at Plan International Canada and will be a part of building the team over the next five years from the ground up.
