PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As Rotarians and individuals, we are susceptible to making mistakes. We all receive emails and telephone calls from spammers intent on creating chaos in our lives. Bob and I try our best to vet emails that come in to the Club’s email account. If the request for financial assistance appears genuine, we pass it on to the Chair of the Committee responsible for that Area of Service to follow up for more information. It is a delicate balance and hopefully we make the right decision. Be careful out there in the digital world.

On a happier note, the Paul Harris Community Recognition Ceremony went off without too many hitches. Thank you to Cliff and the team for a job well done. The Nominees were excellent and reminded everyone of the Service Above Self that takes place in our community beyond Rotary.

The next joint event by the Oakville Clubs is the Education Awards for Oakville Students. Applications are being received at the Oakville Community Foundation on the Hub established on their website. It is still early stages and evaluation of the requests from students will begin soon.

Work has also started regarding the next fundraiser, the Oakville Ribfest. I missed the first steering committee meeting but I am sure that we will have information soon as to how to proceed. Stay tuned.

Lauri is also working with other Club Members on a project to build Bird Houses as a potential fundraiser. If any of you have an idea for an easy fundraiser, please forward them to Ken Coulter.

Thank you to Cathy Whittaker for the great speakers that we have enjoyed. If you have an idea for a luncheon speaker please pass the name on to Cathy.

Hopefully before too long we will be able to meet in person. Initially, they may be hybrid meetings but it will be a step in the right direction.

Stay well and stay safe.

RETHINKING OUR INDIGENOUS BURSARY PROGRAM
As many of you know, the recent and ongoing financial crisis at Laurentian University led to the dissolution of the Laurentian Federation, which adversely affected our Indigenous Scholarship partner, the University of Sudbury. U of S is still not able to offer courses and is undergoing the long process of reinventing itself.

Oakville Family Ribfest

We are an active group of volunteers; we raise money so that we can give it all away, and we have a lot of fun doing it!

At the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar, we are a diverse group of people of varying ages and from all walks of life—professionals, entrepreneurs, retirees, parents, and grandparents—and united in our commitment to the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self. We share a common purpose: to make a difference in our community and to create lasting positive change here at home and around the world.
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.
