What a joyful evening! Thirty-three deserving recipients received a total of $60,000 in education awards from the 3 Rotary clubs in Oakville. With 140 people in attendance for the buffet dinner at Le Dome the evening was definitely one of celebration. Many thanks to all of the committee members who made this event so successful.
 
The students provided a short statement of their future plans and we have included them below for your reference. 
 
Syeda Taliya Rizvi
– also the recipient of The Donna Messer Service Above Self Award -
In September, Syeda Taliya Rizvi will pursue a degree in Life Sciences from the University Of Toronto. Moving forward she aspires to work hard and help others as true happiness is not one that is materialistic but one that comes from bringing joy in the lives of others. 
Ryenne Hislop
I have enjoyed my four years at Abbey Park High School, I've gotten to be a part of many teams and clubs like the basketball team and I will continue my journey at Macmaster University for social sciences!
Ethan Townsend
Hi my name is Ethan Townsend and I am a student at Abbey Park High School. Like all kids of my age I enjoy playing video games. I have also played hockey for the last 12 years with the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club. I am going to attend Sheridan College next year and I will be taking Child and Youth Care. I have done a lot of Volunteer work with the YMCA and I would like a future working with kids. I’d like to give back to the community for all they have given me.
Anna Kang
I am thankful to the Rotary Clubs of Oakville for granting me this bursary, which will assist me in pursuing my studies in Medical Sciences at Western University this fall.
Carla Jacobs
In September, Carla Jacobs will pursue a degree in design through York University and Sheridan College. She largely attributes her success to her passions for experience and of helping others.
Nadia Lopez
Nadia Lopez is a grade 12 student pursuing Sheridan College's Bachelor of Interaction Design Program.
Catherine Maul
Catherine Maul, a grade 12 student who has a passion for sciences and math and will be pursuing a degree in Nursing at McMaster University to do what she loves most, helping humanity, caring for others and encouraging others to do the same.
Emily Williams
Emily Williams is a dedicated individual with a strong passion for the environment and living a sustainable lifestyle who has made volunteering a large part of her life through her work with dog guides. 
Andrew de Souza
Next year I will be attending Harvard University for Environmental Engineering.
Sarah Milkovich
I will be attending the University of Western next year in the BMOS (Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies) program. I have received direct entrance into the Ivey program, which starts in my third year of university. 
Maria Salman
I will be attending McMaster University in the Honours Kinesiology program.
Maia St. Germain
A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Oakville for assisting in the funding of my postsecondary career.  With receiving this bursary, the stresses of affording University have decreased in a major way.  It is an honour to have been presented this award! 
Sarah Hammond
The help from the Rotary Club is allowing me to attend the Biochemistry program at the University of Waterloo in September and I will be forever grateful for this.
Jade Jordan
I am incredibly thankful to the Rotary Club of Oakville for its support as I prepare to study LLB Law at the University of Leeds this September. This bursary will be instrumental in helping me pursue my goal of becoming a Defence Attorney.
Madelyn Taylor
Madelyn Taylor was accepted to her top 3 university choices and has decided to attend The University of Western Ontario in London.  She is taking a Psychology Major and will pursue a career in Family Law after graduation.

Nour Al Afif
I aspire to be a Cardiologist. I have decided to achieve that goal by attending McMaster University for Studies in Life Sciences to prepare me for medical school.
Abiola Ajana
Future and career goal is to get a job as a Corporate Sales Manager – corporate sales manager plan: organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of establishments and departments involved in commercial and industrial, institutional, e-business and wholesale and retail sales. They are employed by commercial, industrial and wholesale and retail trade establishments.
Nicholas Richard Cheng
I aspire to use my talent and God-given abilities to further Canadian biotechnological science, and as a consequence, advance our society. Though I have a love for science, I firmly believe that political lobbying and biased corporate meddling have reached a threshold so restricting, that unless politics is directed by a competent and able leader, it is sure to choke the life from future scientific development. If God be on our side, I shall become this leader, not for personal gain, but for the progression and benefit of the peaceful world.
Angelika Delos Santos
I plan to attend Brock University for Biomedical Sciences this fall and big thanks to the Rotary Clubs of Oakville for this financial assistance. This will greatly impact my journey to success in the future!

My career aspiration is to become an engineer as it will allow me to use the math and science that I learn in the classroom in practical ways. In the fall, I will be attending McMaster University’s general first year Engineering program. Engineering has the ability to better the world and the lives of those living in it, and I am dedicated and excited to become a part of that change.

I’m a surviving IB student who’s just completed exams! I’ll be attending McMaster University for Life Sciences in the fall of this year. Hopefully in four years I’ll enter Medical School to study to become a Pediatrician, and potentially specialize as a Neonatologist.
