This spring Rotary District 7080 Interact Committee launched the Grant Writing Initiative (GWI)2025 which received 7 applications.  There were three Interact Clubs from Oakville (Oakville Trafalgar HS, Abbey Park HS and Iroquois Ridge HH), two from Burlington (Nelson SS and Dr R. Hayden SS), one from Brampton (Central Peel SS) and one from Streetsville (Streetsville SS).
These students submitted an application with 7 sections indicating what charity they chose, the mission and vision and substantial information describing how the funds from Rotary would be used. In addition, they had to show how the project would contribute to the community.
The GWI teaches students how to prepare a grant application, teamwork, research, writing skills, critical thinking and other skills, while supporting them to help a charity in the community.
The photos show the three Oakville clubs presenting the cheques to the charities they chose (Abbey Park/Food4Kids, IRHS/Kerr Street Ministries, OTHS/The Lighthouse for Grieving Children).
The cheque presentations are being organized by the other participating Interact Clubs.
Congratulations to all Interact clubs for their amazing work in helping the community!
