Facts about the 2017 Kids Run for Kids Event

  • Fun runs (not races) and walks to promote physical fitness among children and families
  • A fun-filled family event for children, parents grandparents, guardians, and siblings
     
  • 70% of net proceeds to Benefit Children Locally by:
• Improving relationships between Ames Police officers and members of the Boys and Girls Club of Story County by providing funds to the Ames Police Foundation for interactions
• Helping young Ames area children learn to read and love to read by providing funds to Raising Readers
• Assisting a new graduate of Ames, Gilbert or Roland Story Community Schools by providing a college scholarship 
  • 30% of net proceeds to Benefit Children Internationally by:
• Helping to eradicate polio from our earth by providing funds to the polio eradication effort of Rotary International through the Rotary Foundation
• Helping to correct clubfoot -- the most prevalent birth defect that affects one in 750 births in every part of the world by providing funds to RAG4CLUBFOOT, a Rotarian Action Group to buy braces.

 

Features of the 2017 Kids Run for Kids Event

  • Runners from age 12 days old  through  12 years old
  • Adults*may run with their child or younger sibling
    * “Adult” is defined as a parent or a sibling age 13 or older on April 29, 2017
  • Kids Run for Kids is 4 runs
    4 K (2.500 mile) start at 09:00        3 K (1.875 mile) start at 09:10
    2 K (1.250 mile) start at 09:20         1 K (0.625 mile) start at 09:30
    • Runners choose their own distance
    • Completion ribbon for each runner (kid & adult) who completes a run
  • Kids Run for Kids is 3 walks
    • “Off the Beaten Path”  Walks in the park identifying plants and trees
    —Not for wheelchairs or strollers—
    • "Stroll Along the Riverbank" starts at 09:05 & 10:05
    • "Trek Through the Woods"  starts at 09:15 & 10:15
    • "Gentle Walk in the Forest" starts at 09:25 & 10:25
  • Kids Run for Kids is many fun-filled family activities for all ages
