President Dick opened the meeting at 07:30 and greeter Matt shared some inspiration about how he recently lost a childhood friend named Amanda in CT at age 37. His message was simple, don’t take life for granted and the time we have with one another. Life is fragile and short, love one another.

Announcements:
  • Corn hole 5/19 at 5:45 PM AT Alan’s in Boscawen. There are 10 or so signed up. There will be food, drinks and laughter. The winner gets $750 to contribute to a charity of choice. The 2nd place team earns $250 to give to a local charity. Good social event. 
  • 1st Grade book reading meeting is today at Dunbarton and Bow elementary 
  • Car show is 5/15 from 8-2pm. All hands on deck. Looking for 
  • Awards night June 11th at 5:30 pm at Baker Free Library 
  • Thursday night Concert Series starts on 7/16 for 5 straight weeks and starts at 6:30 pm.
  • Ben started a nice discussion about the WHY behind people volunteer and asked the Early and Interact groups. The young members gave their reasons why they put “ SERVICE ABOVE SELF .”
  • Next Board meeting is 5/18 at 6 pm at Tanya Frost’s home
  • THERE IS NO meeting on Friday May 22nd in Observance of Memorial Day.

Mike Ard happy about 1st grandson in Texas this year as he celebrated his birthday
Dave Scanlan is happy about his son who graduated with his Master at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, PA and is a proud father.
Linda Bliss is happy for her granddaughter, who graduated from UNC Charlotte and is moving on to work on her master’s degree.
Peter Imse happy to see the fruits of his labor starting up Interact over 25 years ago and then started up the Early Act Club as well about 10 years ago.  He stays young working with the groups and finds joy and gratitude working with the groups.
David Gazaway is happy about his sons Caleb and Dillion who are home and have passed all their courses and have summer jobs.
Gerry Carrier is happy about Donna Deos and her responsibility of 64 clubs in NH and is grateful for her to be here as a District Governor. So happy to see the number of people at today’s meeting
Dick Swett happy that the Early and Interact kids are here and representing future Rotarians.
David Farr is happy about how Ryan asked him to officiate his June 12th wedding and how other members helped him scramble for renewing his Justice of the Peace designation.
 
Program: 
Haley Corkum from Interact gave a progress report on their activities over the last year. Been very busy and have raised a lot of funds and will donate to Doctor’s Without Borders. They have also done some activities around cleaning up the environment. Joy Chaffee and Colony Barrett gave their goodbye speech as advisors for Interact. There are over 50 members now of Interact. Sophie Brooks spoke as new treasurer. Hayley Corkum spoke as President and thanked us for the Waypoint Sleep out a few months back. They are planning a trip to Belize in 2027. There were over 15 members of both Early and Interact present.
 
Gerry Carrier outlined what needs to be accomplished for the Car Show tomorrow and what needs to be done to prepare the field.
 
 
President Dick closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
