Chris Shayes (former congressman from Connecticut)
Dwayne Ford (Worked with school budgets since 2005.  Vanessa presented him with a Vocational Award.  Dwayne thanked the Club and shared a story.
 
Announcements:
  • Club Social Get-together at Hoptimystic next Thursday.
  • Get well card circulating for Gale Kenison.
  • Pass the gavel is next Friday.
  • Dick Swett is filling out a form for acceptance of 2 student members into the Club.

  2. Dave Scanlan (Shared that his wife has retired from teaching.  Dave is not ready yet.  
    He has been working on a video of people that are or have been involved in state government reading a sentence from the Declaration of Independence.
  3. Chris Parkinson – Good year traveled a lot (Viking cruise to Machu Picchu, Grandkid trips) Next year planning Alaska, Hawaii. Going to the Arctic in 2 weeks, Planning trip to Antarctica. Had a health scare with daughter.

Happy Bucks: 
  • Ben Kiniry – Work on home up north going well. Had worked on the school budget committee with Dwayne and that Dwayne made it entertaining and knows the history.
  • Tanya Frost – Went to banana ball at Fisher Cat stadium and held a great event at Boys & Girls Club.
  • Bob Couch – Canada is great!  Lupines are great this year. Monday Morning Hikers starts on Monday.
  • Chris Shayes – Love saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  NH is an amazing state.  Loves the club.  Remembers his wife loved coming here.  She passed 7 months ago.  Honored being in the meeting and at the table with the Secretary of State.
  • Durwood Sargent – Great Grandson arrived, Celebrating birthday #1.
  • Matt Gatzke – Been to other clubs. When they find out he is in the Bow club, they say how great our club is.
  • Judy Goodnow – Saw Notre Dame, visited over 15 gardens on her trip.
  • Ken Moulton – 1yr anniversary of his achilleas reattachment.
  • Karen Wadsworth – Nice to have someone else remember when “under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance
  • Tamar Roberts – Last Board meeting.  Ran a 5K.
  • Brad Abel – Haven’t sent our invite letters yet
  • Gerry Carrier – Wyoming granddaughter graduates and is moving to New Mexico.  Been on the Board 17 of his 30 years in the Club.
  • Chris Parkinson – Have to scoot. No power at home.
  • David Farr – Thank you to Dwayne Ford. Closed a contract for $160K.
Program: 
  • Secretary’s Report – 92.14% attendance in May is the best all year. 4 new people on Rule 85.
  • Auction Committee – Meeting next Monday night
  • Rewards & Recognition Night – Went well.  A lot of nominations this year.  One award has not been handed out yet.
  • Car Show – Will clear about $11,800.  Next year’s date is 15 May.
  • Christmas trees – Getting started soon.  Looking at other Christmas tree growers.  Plan to order this July.
  • Club Vocational Services – No update
  • Community Needs – No report
  • Club Administration & International – No update
  • New Generations – Ryan got married last week (and he can really sing)
  • Summer Concert Series – 3rd Thursday in July through 2nd Thursday in August
  • Early Act – School is out.  One 8th grader is moving up next year.  Lots of 6th & 7th graders this year. 
  • Greener Bow – No activity
  • Grants – No update
  • IT – No update. A new Clubrunner update will be looked into.
  • Membership – Hoptimystic will be our last event.  Looking at next year’s plans.
  • Property Committee – Appreciate help every Friday by everyone.
  • Publicity Committee – Goal was 7 communications.  Achieved somewhere in the teens.
  • Rotary Foundation – no report
  • Scholarship Committee – Handed out $25K
  • 4 Way Speech Contest – Success
  • Vision Report is ready for review
  • Treasurer’s Report (See Tamar’s report for details)
    -Currently have $5,386.52 in club account
    -Foundation has over $92K
    -Discussion on next year’s dues at Board meeting. 
  • Need to increase dues
  • Ending balance amount is lower this year than past years.
  • Possible increases
    - Breakfast up to $100 / quarter?
    -Dues up to $300 / year?
  • Will end the year with $1.7K in Club – lowest in several years
  • Covered social get togethers this year – about $40 / year / person
  • Christmas tree sales used to go to club account - need to revisit.
  • Used up the surplus amount from past years
  • Might consider where income goes to
  • Have a $40K surplus in the Foundation. Looking for projects
  • Having tree sales support the Club passes the 4 Way test (maybe a 50/50)
  • If you haven’t paid your dues by 1 July, your membership may be in jeopardy.
President Dick closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
