Bulletin For July 28th 2017
Today’s Greeter:  Dean Cascadden welcomed members and guests to Bow Rotary.

Attendance:  1 visiting Rotarian and 36 Bow Rotarians, for a total of 37.

Announcements:
  • Summer Concerts:  Sunday evenings at 6 p.m.   Now extended to August 13th!
  • Rotary Golf Tournament:  PDG Rich Berryman announced the date is August 18th at Bretwood (North) Golf Course in Keene.  Two Bow teams expected, and Jon Ruggles confirmed we now have 8 members signed up.  Support “Pure Water for Haiti” even if you don’t play.
  • Xmas Trees:  Tom Ives (Mr. “Winter is Coming”) announced that his Xmas tree committee would be meeting next Friday morning.  President Judy read out the committee’s members: (from a notebook she keeps hidden in the lectern): Tom Ives, Jon Hanson, Nate Sanel, Tom Wilson, and Mike Fortier.

Sargent-at-Arms (Ben Kiniry):
  • Fines:  Honor system…
    • Dave Gazaway made a false accusation, so no fine was assessed;
    • Jon Ruggles: R&T Electric logo;
    • Jerry Kingwill: Cobb Hill Construction logo;
    • Several for missing badges.
  • Birthday:  Rick Minard’s 62nd birthday.  Received his fully discounted National Parks pass.  He has a new job, and his wife and family are doing well.
  • Happy Bucks:
    • PDG Rich Berryman: daughter’s trip to Haiti to build houses for the poor;
    • Dick Swett: his daughter was named a Scholar – Athlete;
    • Chris Parkinson: had a great vacation to Norway.  He also closed on the sale of his house with the assistance of Steve Destefano, Jon Ruggles and Noreen Christensen.
    • Ken Moulton: visited Tucson for his grandson’s first birthday.  Temperatures above 100.
    • Bill McGonagle: (i) will be visiting Bob and Rosemary Couch on Gran Manan island; (ii) has a planned trip to Ireland with a friend; and (iii) signed a p&s to sell their cottage on Sunapee.
    • Jeanne Gerulskis: happy she got more sleep, but a $1 for being late;
    • Michelle Fortin: enjoyed being summer concert m.c. last Sunday;
    • Dean Cascadden: graciously paid Eric’s badge fine out of Eric’s money, which Eric had unwisely left on the table (Nanoo!)

Lottery:  Matt Gatzke, pulled the winning ticket, which was Dave Scanlon’s…but alas no Joker…

Program:
Annual Skit(acular)
Our own inimitable entertainer, Chris Parkinson, wrote, organized, costumed the cast, produced, directed and starred in the Annual Skit: “Close Encounters of the Rotary Kind.” The cast this year included: President Judy (starring as herself), Eric Anderson (playing a semi-comatose Orcan), Matt Gatzke (Narrator), Rick Minard (Dr. Boombots of Aaaachen), Linda Lorden (as Nurse Bambi), Gale K and Dick Swett (as fellow Orcans), Dean C and Dr. B as Rotarians aspiring to vacation in Orc; and Robert Louf (grip).
Songs included: “Planet Orc on my Mind” (sounding suspiciously like a James Taylor song); “Somewhere Over the Town of Bow”; “Where have all the Aliens Gone?” and “Can you imagine?”.
Eric had difficulty remembering his lines (nanoo, nanoo), but rallied with the assistance of Nurse Bambi, and Chris P created an entirely new language construct to explain how nanoo, nanoo was actually the Rotary Four Way Test.
Well done!!

President Judy then closed with a “Toast to Rotary the World Over”.
