Greeter: Michelle Fortin was there to greet all, especially those who came with raffle ticket stubs and cash!
Auction Tees were handed out and they look fantastic in yellow with blue writing.
Our President, Michael Griffin, opened the meeting by leading the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Michelle Fortin asked that we all take the time to reflect on our veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom.

Announcements:
Rick Minard was rather enthusiastic in his introduction of his guest Susan Hatem, a member of the Baker Free Library Foundation, as his introduction was amid Michelle Fortin’s attendance report. We should all be so enthusiastic!
Unbeknownst to Gerry Carrier he had a guest, Burt, who came to the meeting as he received an offer via a mailing that Gerry placed on his mailbox. This is the power of advertising at work.
Michael Griffin made the difficult decision to give out the bad news. Unfortunately, our Rotary Club has lost a good member, Tim Neville, who utilized the Four Way Test to determine that he was no longer able to keep his commitment to the club. He will be missed and we all hope that he finds his way back to us in the future.
However, the club membership number remains unchanged as we were lucky enough to acquire a new member, Thomas Ives, who was welcomed by all.
Eric Anderson received recognition for his efforts in creating a slide show representing the good work of the Bow Rotary Club, which was on display throughout the meeting.
Paul Mercier mentioned holiday baskets and reminded us that the club matches donations.
Bryant Stevener started to discuss Christmas tree sales but then decided it would be best to leave that announcement for after the auction, a good move in the opinion of many. However, he did encourage all who had placed an auction sign in the community to take a Christmas tree sign to swap with the auction sign.
Judy Goodnow informed the club that we had collected over 130 items for the auction. Michelle Fortin - encouraged everyone to keep selling raffle tickets, there is still time. Sandy Eldredge – has been busy pulling pork and otherwise stated that hot foods should be hot and cold foods should be cold or something like that.
Michael Griffin made the global statement that we all should “bring everyone.”
Dave Stack made a public safety announcement regarding his concern for our well-being.
Chris Parkinson stated that the Halloween event at the High School was a great success as assessed by the amount of candy distributed. Michelle Fortin confirmed that interact sold 30 raffle tickets.
Sergeant at Arms: Bryant Stevener
Fines: The usual suspects paid their fines, both Paul Rizzi and Jon Ruggles we all thank you for you weekly contributions.
Gerry Carrier was searching desperately for his coffee mug, which was apparently “borrowed” by Harry Judd. When questioned about the incident Harry replied with a very woeful “SO.”
Happy Bucks:
Steven Lauwers is sad he will not be attending the auction, and still somehow found his way to being happy about taking his spouse to Athens and the Mediterranean for several weeks.
Paul Rizzi is happy that he had acquired four tickets to the upcoming Baker Free Library Foundation wreath action, which he generously offered to all as a gift. Ben Kiniry utilized his close proximity to Paul to acquire two tickets (Thanks Paul!)
Alan Kanegsberg is happy that he was able to enjoy a trip to Seattle, Reno and San Francisco. Though he was taken prisoner at Alcatraz, he was able to escape by racing sailboats in the Bay.
Dean Cascaden is happy to report that the Halloween event at the high school went well and that the new all-day kindergarten program has been a success. Also of note is his desire to attend the program.
Gerry Carrier was happy to welcome our newest member, Tom Ives, to pay for his “guests” breakfast and to be reunited with his coffee mug.
Karen Wadsworth is happy that her father is celebrating his 95th birthday. We should all be so blessed.
Tamar Roberts is happy that her son made the Dean’s list, again, and that her son is going to Australia for Christmas. Tamar reported with some disappointment that this will be the first Christmas without both her children being home.
Guest Speaker: No official guest speaker, although there was a question as to whether Alan Kanegsberg was taking it upon himself to fill this role.
Club Assembly:
Eric Anderson, in his role as secretary, reported that we are 51 members strong and that the quarterly breakfast fees are meant to be paid at the beginning of the quarter. Dick Swett argued that the system is unfair in that it is unjust to pay for something prior to knowing what the quality will be.
Paul Mercier, in his role as treasurer, reported that we have a balance of $12,082 of funds currently. However this does not include the reserved $20,000 for the Baker Free Library and $500 slated specifically for Camperships. Paul hopes the auction is a great success, as we all do.
Chris Parkinson educated us as to World Service Opportunities around the world available to Rotary Members and stated that he is currently involved in a Brail project and encourages others to find out more. What involvement does the club desire to have? All are invited and encouraged to find out more and to get involved.
Sandy Eldredge stated that $200 had been raised in the past for Amigos De Honduras. Presently, she is working on the E-Learning Project with the Rotary Club of Bombay West, in India. Significant funds have been raised by various groups, but there is still some additional fundraising needed. The total cost of the project is $56,000 to $60,000.
Rick Minard posed an interesting question of whether the Rotary Club is involved in the refugee crisis.
Raffle: The winning ticket was held by Gerry Carrier, though he was able to knock many cards unto the floor, he was still not successful at pulling the joker.
The meeting was closed with a toast to Rotary the world over by President Mike.
