Bulletin for December 18, 2015
Chris Parkinson played guitar and sang Christmas carols before the meeting, while we were greeted by Ken Moulton.
President Mike rang the bell at 7:30, and Ken provided a benediction.
After we ate, Ken reported 39 Bow Rotarians in attendance and 1 speaker.  Chris led us in a congratulatory “Ho, Ho, Ho….”

President Mike made the second announcement of the Board and Officers for 2016-2017, as follows, who were unanimously approved by the Club:
President         Gail Kenison
Pres. Elect       Judy Goodnow
Vice President   Bryant Stevener
Secretary         Eric Anderson
Treasurer         Paul Mercier
Past President   Mike Griffin
Sargent           Gerry Carrier
Directors:         Dave Scanlon
                      Jeanne Richards
                      Kate Putnam
                      Linda Lorden
Secretary Anderson will submit these to District & RI.

NOTICE: There will be no meeting on December 25 or January 1.  The next meeting will be January 8th.

Announcements:
Xmas Tree Sale: Bryant reported that trees were sold out on Saturday, December 12th and that a $4100 profit had been generated.

President Mike reported that the Club budget is on track for the year.  He also reported the thanks from the Bow Holiday Tree Lighting Committee for Bow Rotary’s support.

Winterfest:
Chuck reminded us that the event will be held on Sunday, January 31st.

Bell Ringing:
Dave Gazaway reported on bell ringing on Thursday, December 17th at the Storrs Street MarketBasket.

Bow Welfare Department:
We passed the basket for Bow Welfare a second time.  We collectively contributed $780 in cash donations for Christmas this year!  The Board will also discuss making a Club match of these dollars for a total of over $1,500.

Our chef, Sandy Bartlett, was asked to come forward to our applause.
President Mike gave Sandy our holiday card and Sandy thanked us.

Membership Exercise:
Rick Minard then conducted a “Membership Exercise” for 4 minutes for each table to identify possible new members.

New Member Induction:
President Mike then called up Nathan Sanel, with his sponsor, Alan Kanegsburg.  Nathan was inducted into the Club by Mike, who read John Sheridan’s introduction to new members.

Sargent at Arms:
Paul Rizzi paid a fine for an MCSB logo.  Although Paul is retiring as President at year-end, he will continue on the MCSB board of directors so we are hopeful of continuing to receive his weekly logo donation indefinitely.

Birthdays:
Ken Moulton will have a Happy Birthday on December 21st, after which he plans to win a number of tennis tournaments against older players.

Happy Dollars:
Gerry C for the music in downtown Concord
Tamar for bell ringing with Ben, Eric and Bill M.
Dick for his daughter’s engagement.
Dave G for his son Dylan being awarded “Sportsman of the Year” by Bow Youth Football.
Bob C – for Bryant’s successful Xmas tree sale and for bell ringing with Dave G.

Chris – for Amigo’s staying at Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn’s generosity in providing free rooms for 15 years.
Dean – for the new health insurance plan for District employees, the upcoming budget meetings and for the joy of being around the schools and children at this time of year
Jeanne R – she had visited John Lyford who wished Club members a Merry Christmas!
Ben – a happy $40!! For a wonderful first year in Bow Rotary and a very successful first year in law practice in Bow.
Noreen – for the Interact Club’s holiday visit to Havenwood, to welcome Nate Sanel to the Club and for her upcoming trip to Florida and the Bahamas.
Bill – for his upcoming training to be a volunteer at the homeless shelter, for the Christmas season and for family and friends.

Raffle:
IRA had the winning ticket, but his luck then failed him when he drew for the Joker.

Speaker:
Harry then introduced our speaker, Jonathan Van Fleet, who provided a very entertaining explanation of how he got into winemaking.  He explained the stages of winemaking as well as the characteristics of different fruits.

President Mike then presented a book to Jon that will be donated in his name to the Baker Free Library and closed with “a toast to Rotary the world over.”

Respectfully submitted,
Steve Lauwers, Recorder
