Board (Gerry): Cornhole: approved the funding of two cornhole board set ups; cornhole event with Concord and Hopkinton clubs is May 29th at Alan’s Restaurant in Boscawen. The ‘international rules’ of cornhole will be used. We need a minimum of 4 people to complete, but we are not sure if there is a maximum number of participants. If we are limited to 4 we need to determine how to decide which 4 members will participate. We are putting up $250 for entry fee. Linda Bliss wondered about having cheerleaders – and we definitely want those.
Roadside Pick Up (Jerry):Big thanks to all of the participants; picked up 40 bags; Highlights - Ben found a title to a camper and a person’s social security card; Gerry shared that Mike Griffin hollered as he was by the guardrail picking up stuff and looked up and a gigantic beaver was there that had gotten hit by a vehicle, found 3 pairs of pants and 9 pairs of gloves; Matt Dodge shared that people were thankful (said thank you from porch and tooted from cars), maybe there is a way to send a thank you to the businesses along 3A that send staff to do their own pick up – acknowledge the others who are supporting keeping 3A clean.
Interact (Gerry): board approved getting paperweights for outgoing seniors; some questions (David Farr and Tonya) about why a paperweight and would another gift be more appropriate; Tamar Roberts shared that the paperweight is high quality with their name on it and will last for a long time (as opposed to a pen); consensus – ask kids what they think. Ryan Anastasi shared that he was at the conference this past weekend for Interact students – great event, but smaller than previously as it was later in the year. 30 kids representing 6-7 schools, learned about other interact clubs, panel discussions; Steve DeStefano had 9 interact kids at his house this weekend that we will have volunteer for the car show. Chris Parkinson – shared that Interact at Nashua South did a project to renovate laptops that were taken down to supported the work in Honduras this year.
Summer Concerts (Mike): They have all the bands lined up, Tamar has received the contracts; working in the school to get acts for the first week; fundraising letters are completed; need to raise $4k in sponsorships to fund the concerts.
Early Act (Mike): The kids decided on 3 charities to send $700 each to, one International, one State and one local. Mike will talk to the school to see if we can get them to come to our meeting in May to share their news.
Grants Committee (David Scanlan): grant for robotics clubs; money left over in grants team and will wait for recommendation from the team
Map Project (Judy): became a bit more complicated than we thought, but getting samples printed (make sure as folded it looks the way need to), new streets added, forests shown on map, but no Pioneer trail map. theirs is updated every year so not needed. Just refer people to their website – so ow more space for other info; should have this in early May.
Gerrard Family donation (Gerry): Check still hasn’t been issued, trying to figure out the best way to do that (don’t want to have to have a 10-99 issued due to the amount ) – some wonders about whether there is an tax issue or not since it is a gift to an individual (want to be sure it isn’t reportable to the IRS – need to double check)
Vision Plan (Matt Dodge): update on the vision plan should be ready next week – this is looking at the first year of the next 5.
Book Reading (Katie): we are signed up (Bow Elementary: Katie, Peter, Mike Ard, Mike Gula, Dave Farr; Dunbarton: Judy, Rob Werner); Eric can take photos but they cannot show up on Facebook.
Rotary Marker (Gerry): should be done this week, but having trouble fitting some of the lettering, but are working on it. Marked out in the park the proposed location; dig safe will be out there – after that we will be free to excavate the hole (too small for a backhoe)
Recognition Night (Linda): hope everyone has it on calendar; in 2-3 weeks she will be looking to see who is attending; it is June 12th
Secretary Report (Bill): March attendance was a little below average; appreciate the chair people of committees who send emails on make ups; membership – club has 65 members, 61 active; Bow has 51, Hookset has 14 members; Hookset Club – made a change at RI to become a club instead of 20 members you need a minimum of 15 members.
Finances (Tamar): The Club had $13,546.28 in Cash as of 3/31/25; and the Foundation had $90,822.75 in Cash as of 3/31/25, but much of that is restricted or designated leaving $39,000 unrestricted/undesignated although there are still several things budgeted in this year that have not yet been paid.
