Former long-time member, Pete Colby says hello to club members.

As you know, Ray Helgemoe, a longtime Bow Rotarian and Board member, passed away recently and Bry Stevener told an endearing story.  He always felt that Ray’s deep voice sounded like the voice of Paul Harvey.  He had told Ray so and they began a weekly greeting together, “Good morning, Paul”.

Matt Gatske agreed.  Went he went to his first town meeting and heard Ray speak, he was sure Ray was a retired professional radio announcer.  A story was relayed that Ray had more than once said, “ This town spends more money than a drunken sailor...  And I know because I was a drunken sailor.”

Steve DeStefano announced the Interact Club October Peanut Butter Drive.  Ben has asked all of us as Rotarians to bring a peanut butter or almond butter donation to our Friday morning meeting on October 15 to support this drive!

Happy Bucks:

Chris Parkinson gave a happy $10 for his “awesome” trip to Glacier National Park, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. “ Beautiful country”

Dean Cascadden paid a buck for the look of Tom Wilson’s beard. He was also happy about is favorite car purchase of a Subaru.  He reminded us that the high school sports October Fest is October 2.

Mike Griffin was happy about a red sox game last Saturday.  “It was a beautiful Fall day.” AND he recently celebrated his 29^th wedding anniversary and is donating $100 to Rotary International Foundation.

Matt Dodge was very happy to celebrate is wedding anniversary and to have been able to ride in a 50 mile bike ride to support the Kelly Brush Foundation working on prevention of spinal cord injury in sports.

Judy Goodnow participated in the Pope SPCA walk last Saturday which raised $40,000.  She also expressed that caring for a 3.5 year old granddaughter for a full day also takes a lot of energy.

Dick Bean offered $1 to recognize a Concord Sunrise function resurrection.

Chuck offered thanks to the Bow community and schools for their support of the Oulette family

and Bow students.  He is proud to be a citizen of Bow.

Eric Anderson offered a wine of sorts to have to eat lobster rolls outside at a cost of $75 for two

President Ben announced with much thanks that Chuck Rheinhardt will be our new Sgt. and Arms and John McCauley will be our new Director for Community Service. 

In August, our attendance was at 84.2% with 39 active members and 7 honorary ones.  Gerry Carrier reminded us to always let him know of our meeting makeups. Individual members should make up missed meetings so their attendance does not fall below 60%.

No treasure report was given at this time. President Ben did say we are in a good place financially and that August had been a quiet month.  Auction donations are coming in. 

Gerry announced that the Car Show profits are running at approximately $12,600.  The number will be finalized soon.  Gerry was applauded for his leadership of this fund raiser.

The board is was thankful for Chuck Rheinhardt's willingness to come on board and take on the roll of Sargent-At-Arms.  The budget has set a goal of $2200.00 for this fiscal year.

Bill Ames announced the speaker bureau listing now our web.  He also reminded members to check their spam if on any one week they do not receive the weekly Bulletin.  He also thanked Bob Couch for his work on the website in these regards.

Chris Parkinson will soon be sending out fundraising letters for work to be done in Honduras.  There will be no trip this coming 2022 due to Covid but funds are being collected for a school building addition.

President Ben updated the club on the proposed rotary global grant for Child Voice.  $13.5 k has been pledged to date.  He also informed the membership that the Board of Directors approved a donation of $500 for the Henniker Rotary District grant to lessen  the stigma of diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.

EarlyAct and Interact will be very active again this year with fund raising and service.  Along with the Peanut Butter Drive in October, Interact will again run the Flocking of Flamingos fundraiser again in October and November.  They have also scheduled their Roadside Pickup for October 17.  Interact members will also rotate on Zoom to attend our Friday morning meetings.  Steve will work with Interact regarding accessing our zoom address.

Under Club Property, President Ben announced that he is still looking for volunteers to assist with our Zoom setup on Friday mornings.  Please contact him if you are at all interested.  You will be trained and supported.  The Board of Directors has approved additional tech support to make this set up even more easily.

 Bry Stevener reported that the club visioning report will be reviewed this winter.  He also stated that Alan Konigsberg will celebrate 50 years in Rotary this Spring and that Bob Couch is working in a permanent display of John Lyford's life time of rotatory pins in service.  He is hoping to honor both of these Rotarians be recognized this coming Spring in the Baker Library Rotary Room.

Christmas trees will be ordered this week according to Steve DeStefano.

Gerry reminded all that our Roadside Pickup is set for October 9.  Sign up will occur next week. Also The Bow Garden Club has set October 16 for cleanup of the Rotary Park. Volunteers are needed from our Club.

Sponsorships are progressing. We are currently at $9000.00.

President Ben closed the meeting with a toast the Rotary the world over.
