Dave Scanlan - Got COVID at hackers’ convention last week, and could not MC Concert. Thanks to those who covered for him.
Tom Ives - Wonderful time up in Berlin NH with Trout Unlimited teaching fly fishing to 13-16 yr. olds. Best of all-no phones or computers.
Steve DeStefano - Happy to have Tara Reardon at meeting. Going to Foxboro to see Kenney Chesney with his daughter.
Judy Goodnow - Urged all to do the Walk For The Animals to support our SPCA. Her Grandson caught his first bass!
Mike Griffin - Future son-in-law invited him to bachelor party that turned out to be week-end at Saratoga Springs. Had a great time.
Eric Anderson - Survived 4 more days glamping in rain.
John Ruggles - Thank you to Ken for covering while he picked up breakfast sandwiches.
Program: Club Assembly
Secretary’s Report - Bill Ames - 85% attendance for July- urge all to let him know if we make-up. We now have 64 members-12 of them are members of Hooksett Satellite. No issues with payment of dues. Some members on payment plans.
Treasurer’s Report - Bill Ames (for Tamar) - Have lot of $ in club and Foundation. We have received dues from Satellite club and paid all RI dues. Nothing unusual to report. With growth of funds in our accounts, Gerry urged Club to suggest project ideas to put the money to work. He noted that a prior suggestion that we develop a walking path around Turee Pond has been abandoned due to extremely high cost and wetlands issues.
Auction - Mike Gula - Save the date:11/6- Solicitation letters drafted and at printer. Starting to collect donations. All members should consider approaching new donors this year to supplement our donor pool. Committee will share donor lists and provide form letters for Club members to use.
President’s Report - Gerry- Summary of recent Board Meeting:
- Reviewed Bylaw changes necessary to accommodate Satellite Club. Will circulate draft to all Club members for review and put to Club vote in early September.
- Decided to drop idea of reviving playing card raffle.
- Mary Anne Wells from Hooksett Satellite attended the Board meeting. She presented summaries of their activities and finances. They have their own checking account now, and Tamar will oversee their financial matters. In response to a question, Gerry noted that, while Satellite clubs are under the ultimate supervision of the Host Club, they are governed on a day-to-day basis by their own sub-Boards per terms of our Club Constitution.
- Vanessa Palange is taking lead on getting our Club back on Facebook. We were bumped off the site a few years ago due to something related to our auction raffle. We need to get back on, and then use it to get word out about all we do.
- We used to do Club/family social events in past, and the Board would like to start having them again. The Membership Committee has not yet met to discuss. One idea floated to date-evening gathering at Chuckster’s-either in Hooksett or Chichester, which would be paid for by Club. Significant show of hands shows support for doing something like this. Comments suggest more folks prefer Chichester option because it includes go-carts and batting cages, as well as food and golf, and will provide more opportunities for members to mix and socialize. Yes, we would invite our Hookset members to join. Date to be determined-possibly 9/12 or 9/13.
- Baker Free Library - Requested the Club to purchase a bench for front renovation project. $1400 approved by Board for a bench. Teak bench will have a plaque recognizing Rotary.
- Town Map - Has not been updated in many years. Club may possibly take on a map update as a new project.
- Concert wrap-up - Great job committee! Favorable, reviews all around.
- New Members Committee - Will they spearhead something for BAC Octoberfest event at the end of September? If not, Club will try to put something together.
President Gerry closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
