Program:
Peter Imse spoke to the Club about current election topics. He opened by commenting on the fact that a substantial contributor to voter mistrust of elections is lack of knowledge. He urged members to tell anyone who has concerns about elections to volunteer to serve as an election worker. Working knowledge of the election process is the best antidote to fear of the unknown. He discussed the detailed planning that precedes each election, involving all Town and School officials. He observed that the Town’s new electronic poll pads and ballot tabulators are working out very well, and will save our election officials substantial time preparing end-of-election reports. He touched on the Town’s decision to move the polling place to the schools, noting that the BMS is a far superior option to the Community Center due to more space, better lighting, better voter flow, and more parking. Finally, he commented on the security features surrounding absentee balloting in NH which provide numerous checks against possible fraudulent use.
President Tanya closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
Respectfully Submitted,
Peter Imse
