Today’s Greeter: Steve Destefano welcomed members and guests to Bow Rotary.
Attendance: 3 Concord Rotarians, 1 guest and 37 Bow Rotarians, for a total of 41.
Announcements:
- Annual Scholarship Auction: Matt Gatzke and Noreen Christensen: Auction is coming up on October 28th, with the theme “All Hands on Deck”. The Auction Committee is seeking “experiential donations” (e.g. a vacation trip, etc) as well as material donations. Jeff Kipperman is the Sponsorship Chair and Mason & Rich is the Raffle sponsor. Jeff will be actively seeking sponsorships. The other members of the Auction Committee team are: Ken Moulton, Dick Bean, Michelle Fortin, Ben Kiniry; as well as assistance from our Auction stalwarts: Gail, Donna and Jerry. It would be great to see donations as soon as our Club Assembly meeting in August.
- Summer Concerts: Sunday evening at 6 p.m.
- Rotary Golf Tournament: Dave Christie announced the date is August 18th at Bretwood (North) Golf Course in Keene. Two Bow teams expected, and Jeff Kipperman has agreed to sponsor the Lobster Hole…which Jeff reports from personal experience can result in winning a live 3 lb lobster at 6 p.m.
- Dave Stack’s mother-in-law recently passed away.
- Red Sox game: dates of game will be provided.
- Rotary License Plates: Tony Gilmore reminded the Club that Rotary license plates are available now. Check them out at www.rotary7870.org

- Jeff Kipperman: $1 to recognize Donna Deoss as the new business operations manager at Mason & Rich;
- Gerry Carrier: $20 in honor of his mother who recently passed away at the age of 100, who was loved by many and who had always been “the last to leave the party.” She will be missed.
- Chuck Rheinhardt: $1 in recognition of solving the mystery of Dave Gazaway’s missing badge (hint: he looked in the box);
- Karen Wadsworth: $1 in recognition of Harry Judd’s longstanding support and work on the Safety Building, including serving as the MC at the Open House;
- Harry Judd: $1 in recognition of the dedication of the new Safety Building, with thanks to many, including Eric Anderson over the last 20 years….Harry’s message to the entire Bow community: ”it is your building”;
- Noreen Christensen: Trip to Dorset VT to see a play starring Tyne Daley and her brother.
- John Ruggles: $1 to recognize his daughter who had flown in late on Thursday and still got up to go to Rotary on Friday morning, and $1 to his wife who is still fighting off her infection;
- Dave Christie: his old house on Bow Center Road sold;
- Tamar Roberts: $5. Her brother-in-law recently passed away, and she is planning a trip to Newfoundland;
- Donna Deoss: happy to join Mason & Rich;
- Dick Bean: $1 for Dave Christie’s old house, which Dick and his wife had owned in the ‘70’s, and $1 as a reminder for us to sign his book;
- President Judy: Happy $5 for her grandchildren who had visited and for the bat who decided to leave her house that morning;
Lottery: Matt Dodge pulled the winning ticket, which was Dave Christie’s…but alas no Joker…
Program: Club Assembly
President Judy read two thank-you notes. The BES Library thanked us for our book donations, and Wendy Gazaway thanked us for her Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Judy reported that the Board meeting had been fairly quick.
Bill McGonagle, Club Secretary, then reported on attendance statistics for June and overall membership: The Club has 57 members, of whom 52 are active and 5 are honorary.
President Judy summarized the status of the balanced budget (She should go to Washington, but we’d miss her too much). She then summarized some budget adjustments, as well as significant charitable commitments.
President Judy provided an update on the proposed changes to make the Old Town Hall ADA compliant, as well as the support of various groups and individuals, including our own architect, Tom Wilson. The Club will be donating $1,500 to this important renovation.
President Judy also provided a quick update on the status of the updated map of the Town of Bow and
then closed with a “Toast to Rotary the World Over”.
