President Michelle Fortin opened the meeting at 7:30am and greeter Bob Couch asked all to do one nice thing (that wasn’t already expected of you) for someone else today.

 

 

 

 

 

Dave Farr finished his fireside chat with the Pres-elect Matt Dodge, and we announced for the first of two meetings, he has submitted an application to join the club! 

Tom Wilson fell and broke his back and both arms.  He is in a body cast but is in “great spirits”, according to Eric Anderson.  Please keep him in your thoughts.

Gerry Carrier has sent out invoices for breakfasts for the next two quarters.  He has been closely following numbers to keep bill amounts as low as possible.  No new update on the pavilion, still on pace for the spring.

Ben Kiniry updated the club on his Global Grant. There is some disagreement with the local clubs in Africa, about who controls the money, and there is some concern about improper use of funds from that geographical area previously.  We are proceeding with some caution and there will be more to follow.

Chris Parkinson – The Amigos team members are getting ready for their trip!  Chris leaves this Wednesday and the team leaves next Saturday.

Dick Swett - $2,500 microloan for water ambulance/taxi – the plan is coming together, Early Act and Interact are getting involved.  Business plan from the Africans is expected next week, hoping to bring that to next week’s meeting. 

Carol Niegisch – Four-way speech contest – Nothing new since last update, committee is meeting and the event will be March 8^th at the BFL.

Karen Wadsworth – Would be happy if she could hear the discussions while on Zoom.

Tom Ives – A mystery helper unexpectedly plowed his 300ft driveway (could this have been Bob Couch fulfilling his own request to do a good deed??)

Chris Parkinson – Leaving for Honduras Wednesday for 13 days.  His wife will meet him in FL upon his return for some R & R.

Judy Goodnow – Back from FL, met with sister, saw a friend in NC, another in VA, great road trip!

Peter Imse – Four happy bucks for the Bengals making the AFC championship game, hopeful they will beat the Chiefs for the fourth time in a row.

Linda Bliss – Was struggling with her snow blower, she prayed for some strength, and then the plow guy arrived!

Dean Cascadden – Leaving early, 2 remote days and 2 snow days and people complain regardless.  His old snowblower failed him, so he went to MB equipment, bought a top-of-the-line $3,500 snowblower to replace it. 

Rob Werner– Heading to DC for a short trip to the British embassy for a great event 

Dave Farr – Flipped on their brand new solar power system, excited to get it up and running. Learned with the battery backup the fridge would run for 14 days without electricity.

Matt Dodge – Thank you Rob for securing a speaker, dog has been going to doggy daycare and Matt will be in person more so than the past 6 months.

Bryant Stevener – Ski trip coming up next year to Mammoth(!), and after getting icicles on his beard while skiing Sugarloaf this past weekend so decided it was time for the beard to go. 

 

 

Energy committee has 7 members, re-started the committee last year. Wanted to get involved and learn about what Bow has been doing to work on energy sustainability.  Discussed some good work had been done already, but there were areas to improve (namely, to promote the work the town of Bow was already doing and conduct outreach to the community). Their goals are to work with the town government, engage the community, identify resources, and develop a town energy plan. Some of the progress Bow has already accomplished was to convert all street lights to LED, add insulation to the Old Town Hall.  Jessica has worked with the committees in other towns (including Dunbarton) that already had committees to learn about their activities. The committee has organized workshops to provide insight to town residents interested in learning about energy-efficient actions. New opportunities might include reviewing solar possibilities for municipal buildings, a community power program, online resources, and more events.
