Announcements:
- Auction Update: Committee has met; theme is “Reach for the Stars”. The Committee is considering adding a Friday night event, for people to see the items as well as enjoy some appetizers and beverages. Bryant Stevener confirmed he still has his liquor license.
- Christmas Trees have been ordered: Dave Farr feels he now has an Associate’s degree in tree farming after his lengthly call with the tree farmer.
- OctoberFest is of course, occurring in September, on the 28th. Details to follow, but involves the Garden Club, Men’s Club, Bow Rotary, etc.
- Hooksett Club - Gerry, Durwood and Bill Ames attended their meeting. Very impressed with the Club’s commitment. Reminded us about the info he sent earlier about the Gear Up for School effort, brunch, volunteer opportunities and donation opportunities, as well as a Vacation Raffle.
- Beginning this week, members are asked to sign in themselves and their guests as they are greeted by the Greeter.
- Club Weekly Raffle - if you buy a ticket and your number is called that week, you win the pot of the day. If your number is called and you pull the Joker from the deck of cards, you win the entire pot. Further details will follow.

Birthdays:
Dave Farr had a birthday. He admits to being 48 and has had a “super fun” year at Rotary. His 17-year-old daughter is a camp counselor this summer and he is missing her. Good preparation for when she goes to college.

Happy Bucks:
Durwood Sargent: He enjoyed going to the Hooksett Club. Looking forward to traveling to North Haverhill (birthplace) to spend some time with some longtime friends. Tractor Pull event is on his calendar.
Ken Moulton: spent a few weeks in England and Scotland. Knew enough to support the team from Spain against England in a Scottish pub.
Dave Scanlan and his wife had a great visit to Seattle to visit their daughter and climbed Mt Rainier.
Ryan Anastasi - was happy with the SuperNothing concert and having his fiancée, his mother and her mother in attendance.
Chris Parkinson - he had been a GSE team leader in Turkey and was giving back to the area in gratitude when he helped pay for an ambulance in Turkey.
Ben Kiniry - commented on Peter Imse’s positive appearance changes since retirement.
Bryant Stevener’s daughter’s brain tumor is no longer growing. She is now on an annual check-up plan.
Dave Gazaway - he was supposed to help at the Mr. Aaron concert but spent time with Wendy up in Maine instead.
Karen Wadsworth mentioned the people who had signed her book back when she joined the club that are still here: Dave Gazaway, Steve DeStefano, Jon Ruggles, Jerry Kingwill, and Peter Imse. (Later discovered that Chris Parkinson had signed, but his signature was illegible).
Program:
Ben Kiniry introduced John Martin and Matt Poulin - Both are running for Representative in our district.
John spoke about each representative being assigned to a committee; approximately 1200-1500 bills are introduced each year. All are heard: first in a public hearing, then in Executive Committee, when it is just Committee members. The sessions run from January to June. Our Legislative body is the third largest, behind US Congress and the British House of Parliament. He mentioned that Bow is expecting a re-valuation this year.
Matt Poulin: expressed his appreciation for all that Bow Rotary does. He is a former selectboard member and is currently VP of the Bow Men’s Club.
President Gerry closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
