Bryant Stevener introduced the speaker, JoAnne Fryer, Senior Vice President Fuss & O’Neill
The Infrastructure Bill distributed $1 billion to NH to fund repairs to roads and bridges over 5 years. Contractor bids have increased 30.0% to 50.0% due to supply costs and labor shortages. Many bids go unanswered. There is a risk to contractors if the job is not completed on-time they incur a fine.
RAISE Grant received in Manchester, NH for connecting communities. Create a road from Fisher Cat stadium to Elm Street and eventually to Willow Street. The road will be above grade of the railroad tracks. Waiting for the final design. Work on this project to commence in 2025.
The grant process is competitive. Fuss & O’Neill helps the DOT with grants. There are challenges with staffing in consulting firms and the DOT. NH always uses funds received, and usually realizes $20 to $30 million in additional funds from states that do not use them at end of year.
