• The problem with the Internet at the Old Town Hall has not been fixed yet. (Gerry)
• all slots for the Concert Series have been booked. The first concert is June 29.  Sponsors are still needed. (Tanya)
• The Car Show went smoothly.  93 cars were present.  Gerry thanked everyone who volunteered.  Special thanks to Bob Dawson for laying out the field, and also to Bill Ames and Durwood Sargent who stayed to the end to finish cleaning up.  The final numbers are not yet available, Gerry estimates the Car show brought in $11,000 profit. The InterAct volunteers were a big help and Early Act did well with their bake sale. (Gerry)
• Revised Assignments went out this week and a few requests for changes have been made.  Please ask Gerry if you have questions .
• Bow Athletic Club is holding an Old Town Day Event this summer and has asked the Rotary to participate.  This may be a project the new members group wants to take on. (Gerry)

Speakers: Diane Hastings (community relations coordinator) and Kathy Challis (director of development) for NH Children’s Trust

• They are an organization based in Concord, NH whose mission is to work to prevent child abuse and neglect. They work with Family Resource Centers all over the state.  These centers are where families can go to find help with finding and paying for/obtaining housing/rent/utilities, food, transportation
• They focus on Prevention and moving to community level primary prevention services. “Upstream Thinking” - put more resources into preventing problems as opposed to waiting for problems to happen and then work to fix them.
• They believe that when resources outweigh stressors, parents are able to create a nurturing environment for their children.
• Strengthening Families Protective Factors:

1. Parent resilience (support groups, etc)
2. Access to concrete support in time of need - help meet basic economic need (resource centers, NH Charitable funds distributed)
3. Social connections
4. Knowledge of parenting and child development
5. Support social and emotional development of children (help children learn how to interact with others).

• The closest Family Resource Center to us is Waypoint which provides community based support
• Kinship Navigation Program - helping grandparents who are caring for grandchildren to navigate the system.  Currently providing services to over 12,000 grandparents in NH.
• They need help getting the word out about their services so they can reach more children and families.
