Announcements:
Paul Rizzi (who some thought was a new member) had to leave early but reported that the Bow School Support Committee was hard at work with the following projects:
- Bow School Career Day, March 17
- Four Way Speech Contest, March 28 6-8:30 PM at the White Rock Senior Center
Jeannie Gerulskis reported that she needs a videographer for next week’s meeting program “Women of Bow Rotary” (this author declined to ask about a calendar!!)
Peter Imse announced that he needs volunteers for both the Town Meeting and the School Meeting (he is filling in for Jim Hatem at the School meeting). The meeting dates are March 10th for the School Meeting, March 14 for the elections and March 15 for the Town Meeting. Peter asked anyone who could help to please contact him.
Rick Minard is having a Beer Party!! This is a reception for the “newish” members although all members are welcome to come. The meeting will be held at Litherman’s Brewery, Hall Street on February 24 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
Birthdays:
There were no birthdays to report although we did have a continued report from Jeannie Gerulskis on her birthday last week……it seems that her son took her to the Granite Room for dinner and she spent a lovely weekend dodging axes at Lizzy Borden’s house on the Cape!! She knows a good time!! J
Sargent at Arms:
Gerry Carrier fined Rick Minard for leaving him out of the slate of Officers in the Bulletin.
Happy Bucks:
- Mike Griffin gave a happy buck for his daughter Kaitlin passing the first part of the CPA exam (no easy feat, just saying) and also for not having to go purchase an Atlanta Falcons Hat based on a bet he made with his cousin!!
- Bill McGonagle gave a happy buck allocated as follows – 20 cents each for the Patriots, Rams, Panthers, Seahawks and Falcons.
- Robert Louf presented a happy buck for his son going to the Patriots Parade and expressing his love for Bill Belichick (much to the chagrin of his mom)
- Nate Sanel paid a happy buck for his trip to Triumph Motorcycles headquarters which happened to be in Atlanta GA. He reported that the Super Bowl buzz was a bit different in Atlanta than in New England!! OH YEAH BABY!!
- Dave Gazaway gave a happy buck for his decision not to run for a town office position but he may consider the Budget Committee.
Raffle: Jeannie picked the winning raffle ticket number which Mike Fortier possessed but did not pick the Joker.
Program:
Today was Club Assembly with the following reports:
Secretary’s report – Eric Anderson somberly reported that in January there were 23 missed meeting that were not made up which brought our January attendance to 87.52%, a new low!! Also, 5 members have not yet paid their breakfast fee….Please pay this fee on a timely basis.
Treasurer’s report – Paul Mercier reported that we have about $50k in the foundation and $20k in the Club funds.
Gerry Carrier reported that the Sargent of Arms budget is on schedule and he appreciates everything from everyone.
Community Service - Gerry Carrier also reported that the Car Show will be on May 20 and he is in the process of scheduling Spring Cleanups.
Vocational Service – Sandy Eldridge gave another plug for the Four Way Speech Contest (reported above) and mentioned that the Regionals will be held on April 2.
Matt Dodge said that if anyone still wants a Rotary shirt to please contact him for specifics.
Town information packets are being worked on for New Library Members
There will be a Training Session on using the website sometime in March/April
Rotary Business Cards are available to give guests and will be equivalent to a free breakfast.
New Generations – Jeannie Richard reported that the Interact Club was working on electing a new board, a raffle to raise monies and will be starting to provide concessions at Bow Elementary School basketball games to raise funds.
There will be a Falcons Booster Club wine and beer tasting on March 23 from 5 PM to 8 PM
Jeannie Gerulskis brought up that we need to determine whether, as a Club, we introduce the Speaker in the beginning of the meeting or just when the Speaker is introduced to speak. Although I thought there would be at least one committee set up to address this issue, it was quickly decided that the Speaker would be introduced in the beginning of the meeting when the Greeter makes his/her announcement.
