Bow Rotary Club's
Weekly Bulletin

Bulletin For May 15th, 2020
Today’s Greeter: Judy Goodnow welcomed members to Bow Rotary and offered some words of wisdom.
Attendance:
  • 31 Virtual Bow Rotarians
  • 1  Guest: Linda Bliss
  • 1  Guest speakers
Total of 33

Announcements:
  • Matt Gatzke updated the club on the covid-19 grant. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the original grant intention/focus had to be modified. We are now focusing on local food assistance; such as the NH Foodbank, The Friendly Kitchen, and Friends for Forgotten Children.
  • There will be a Board of Directors meeting next week, and next week’s club meeting will be club assembly.
  • There WILL be a club meeting on Friday, June 12. Originally the club was going to cancel the meeting as we would have held the annual award ceremony at that time. However, with the postponement of the ceremony, we will now hold a club meeting.
Sergeant at Arms: Matt Dodge

Happy Bucks:
  • Rick Minard was happy to soon be picking up his son from Clarkson University after another successful year. Only 1 more to go.
  • Mike Griffin gave kudos to the caliber of speakers we have been having, and in particular last week’s speaker.
  • Linda Bliss was happy to announce that her grandson was accepted into Clarkson University and has decided to attend there.
  • Peter Imse was happy to be welcoming a new grandchild into the family.
  • With that “reminder”, Bob Couch was happy to announce that his daughter is currently pregnant with child #2.
  • And not to be outdone (are we starting to see a theme here yet? I think we’re past the puzzles and Sudokus…), Dick Swett was happy to inform the club that 3 family members are currently pregnant. This will result in grandchild #9, #10, and #11.
  • Chris Parkinson is not pregnant, but was happy that Linda Bliss has decided to become a Bow Rotary club member. Welcome Linda!
  • Harry Judd offered a “not-so-happy” buck for the passing of long-time friend and town advocate Tom Fagan.
  • Dave Scanlan was happy that he will be attending a virtual graduation for his daughter, who will be  graduating from John Hopkins.
Program:
Today’s speaker was Dawn Triconi, the Executive Director of Intown Concord. Dawn was asked to provide an update on events and plans regarding the re-opening of downtown Concord.
For those that may not know, the mission of Intown is to promote and enhance the business environment, cultural activities, housing and appearance of historic downtown Concord.
Some of the up-and-coming events include:

  • Market Days has been moved to August and will now be tentatively held August 20, 21, and 22.
  • Upstairs/Downstairs walking tour is now being held on September 10
