Gerry C. –Bow Rotary Car show is May 14th. Reminder we will need coolers, tents, tables and as many members to sign up for event day as possible.

Judy Goodnow and Michele Fortin each expressed much to be happy for and of course the editor was busy listening and does not recall the specifics. Happy Birthday Ladies!
Sargent at Arms- Bryant Stevener, invoked his authority to duly fine the logo offenders – Paul R. , Jon R. and possibly Ira.
These fines were followed up with several members paying happy bucks. Jeannie R. – upcoming trip and Steve D. for his recent trip to FL. It was noted that our newest and youngest member is attempting to keep his truck free of dents. The Sargent properly fined Chris N. for his parking habits.
Raffle ticket was drawn but the Joker eluded us for another week.

Ambassador to Denmark
After a complete, lengthy and impressive bio introduction, our very own Richard (Dick) Swett spoke to us about many aspects of what it was like while he served as Ambassador to Denmark. He was appointed by President Clinton and served from 1998 – 2001. Dick clarified the 3 ways one typically receives an appointment to serve as a US Ambassador, in his case it was by figuratively taking a bullet for the President.
The Ambassadors residence is a villa named Rydhave, which provided a beautiful setting for many social gatherings and diplomatic entertainment opportunities. It was noted the Dick used child labor to serve various dignitaries but he allowed them to eat the same food…………the children were his own, so no harm!
Dick outlined his chosen mission which was; 1. Regional security 2. Economic Trade 3. Human Rights 4. Design Diplomacy. These were expanded on in his speaking to us, with many examples of how Dick and his family carried out these four mission areas. Time was not sufficient for Dick to present all that he experienced and we hope to have another opportunity to hear more from Dick on this at a future club meeting. As editor I would encourage you if you were unable to attend last week and you ever have the opportunity to go and listen to Ambassador Swett speak on his time in Denmark, that you make it a point to do so.
Gale closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary.
