Correspondence: Tyler Carlson from the Red Cross was soliciting help for blood drives in the summer in town. Looking for sponsors, promotion, filling appointments.
Tom Ives - Roadside cleanup is April 20 at 7:30 a.m. Trying to get 15 people. Meeting at park-and-ride at the end of I-89.
Michele Fortin - Bow Garden Club annual spring pick up is April 27 at 8 a.m. It takes about an hour. Same day as district assembly.
First grade books is Friday, May 10.
David Gazaway - Car show is May 18. We already have 22 cars preregistered, which might be a record.
Matt Dodge - Thank you to 4-way test committee. He is always impressed by quality of speakers. Really great job.
Gerry Carrier - Volunteer sheet and assignments for the car show will be going out soon. Next week circulation of sponsorship and trophy sponsors will likely start. We probably have a few openings for $100 to sponsor a trophy. Tanya Frost asked if she could name the trophy after herself if she sponsored it.

$2 Gerry Carrier - 4-Way Speech contestants, finally got pavilion picture in the Bow Times. Tanya asked those in photo for pin honesty

$3 Judy Goodnow - She and her grandkids had a good time in Boothbay.
Around Concord magazine had an article about Tanya but no picture.

$1 Linda Bliss - Had a great two weeks in Florida.

$1 Ryan Anastasi - He has an amateaur film hobby and he and his friend’s film will be premiering at Chunky's in Manchester tomorrow night.

$1 Durwood Sargent - Talked about finding interesting things on spring roadside cleanup including hubcaps. He then described what hubcaps are for younger members, drawing laughter. (For the record Durwood, we know.)

$2 Eric Anderson - 4-way test winners. He didn’t wear his pin to the speech contest on Wednesday. He spoke with Tim Sweeney after Tim presented last week. Tim felt bad when he left because he didn’t mention that apparently there is excellent cellphone coverage next to the granite post out front of Old Town Hall. Tim says the granite post has the best cellphone service of anywhere in town.

$1 - Tom Ives. Put in a plug for the library. Landscaping and fundraiser for outside cleanup.

$5 Dick Swett - Spent yesterday morning with Gerry Carrier for son’s house inspection. He sees his own home in a different light now.

$1 fine for Jerry Kingwill.

$5 - Ken Moulton spent time with son and grandson in Tucson.

$3 - Vanessa Palange - had a friend visiting and for the 4-way contest.

$5 Mike Gula - He was late. Happy for a great job on Wednesday night’s 4-way contest. He had a great Sunday. He ran a half marathon last weekend with his daughter, who won an award at CRTC for nursing. Happy for miracle March skiing at Cannon.

$3 Donna Deos - She had the biggest pin in pavilion photo and moved it around to make it visible but it still wasn’t visible in the photo. Thankful for the 4-way speech contest. It was her seventh rotary meeting this week. She thinks she has a rotary addiction.

$20 Chris Parkinson - Feels awful today but on the bright side he had a great trip for 24 of 25 days. He contracted something coming home from Hawaii. He did a makeup meeting with Henniker.

Dean Casscadan had a question for Dennis. Asked if worked as an education in Newfound. Answer was yes. Has some stories about Dennis he will have to pay money for.

$10 Matt Dodge - Update about his dog. Adopted middle age dog with anxiety and abandonment issues. He’s finally been settling in and they started giving him CBD. It's helping them get their lives back a little bit. Can leave home for a few hours so they can go on date nights. Question from Matt Gatzke if the dog had munchies. Answered in the negative.

$5 David Gazaway - For 4-way speeches. No way he could do that at their age. Son Caleb is home for spring break because he couldn’t go to Cancun. March Madness: his two boys and Wendy are huge into basketball so Wendy had to created a bracket and he’s winning so far.

1st place $500 - Joseph McDowell - Had a speech about political spending and how the system does not represent the four pillars.

Only wealthiest or backed by interest groups can run for office and win
Voter feels hands are tied because of options
Attack ads leads to hostility - not goodwill and better friendships
Billion dollar campaigns benefit special interests and lobbyists rather than voters
Family members who won’t shop at local stores because of owner’s political views

Joseph plans to attend BYU but also take a sabbatical for a 2 year mission with the Church of Latter-Day Saints and then finish school.

2nd place $300 Sabrina Barnard - Spoke about adversity after an injury.

Importance of pillars regarding health
Had to transition exercise from endurance to strength
Women do endurance to lose weight, cardio targeted toward women, strength training toward men.
Embrace new truth. Women should lift weights for benefit.
Had to create new workout plan for herself because she couldn’t run - focused more on her own health, sleeping, vitamins, etc.
Social media shedding light on undereating and eating disorders
staring to put more emphasis on becoming stronger and healthier

College Plans: First option is St. Lawrence for environmental science and public policy but she is still weighing other options.

3rd place $200 Maya Clough - Spoke about building community by be honest and truthful through the 4 pillars.

Put into perspective of a student lying about homework
Sense of duty to do more if she is capable of doing more and creating fairness and equal opportunity.
Truth in feedback from friends even if it’s something you might not like. More impactful friendship, grow and learn from mistakes.
Sense of goodwill such as giving a pencil that goodwill might be passed on because of one small action.
Grow and learn regardless of what you do and do not have.

Maya plans to attend St. Michael's and study psychology so she can work with and help autistic children.

President Matt closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
