Donna – Recognition Night – June 9, 5:30, Hampton Inn. She would like a headcount of those that are able and plan to attend. It’s an opportunity also to obtain potential new members.

really help to get the kids excited and engaged.

Pres. Mike – Gave Survey results: Of the four choices given in the survey, the majority (18 of 38 responses) opted for upping the dues by $25 and keeping the raffle.

Rene Ouellett – Daughter graduated from Univ. of Montana and has already landed a job with NPR and has done her first broadcast.
Peter I. - Gillian graduated from NYU, post grad program and is studying for the boards.
Dean - He had a meeting with the Interact kids and talked about the 1st Grade Reading Program. Some of them remembered being read to!
Dean moving to New Hampton until his new house is complete.
Dave G. – Sad dollar for having to give up 4 Red Sox tickets the night Wade Boggs Number 26 was being retired and the likes of Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice, Dennis Eckersley, and others were also present for the ceremony.
Noreen - Very happy to have been the recipients of the tickets!!!! Had a fun night. Sox
lost, but David Ortiz did not disappoint with his 2-run homer.
SPEAKER:
Dave S. – Before introducing speaker, he reminded everyone that at 4:15, Monday, May 30 there will be a ceremony to honor Coast Guard and Merchant Marines followed by a Memorial Service at the Gazebo. The Freeze Brothers Band and cookout (at no charge) will
follow immediately after.
Dave introduced Dave Mann, WWII Veteran. Dave was drafted into the Army just days after his 18th birthday. He received his draft letter 2 weeks into his attending Univ. of NH.
They gave him a rifle and told him, “either you shoot to kill, or be killed.”
He fought in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge…the only one to survive in his outfit. (75,000 overall American casualties) for which he received a Purple Heart.
Upon his return 3 years later, he attended and graduated from Emerson College in Boston,
and began his career in broadcasting, and voiceovers. He was featured on NBC news.
He is very passionate in his desire to make sure we don’t forget the sacrifice and dedication he and so many other have given to this country. He made not of how much more passion there seems to be after 9/11 in the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Also, when you say THANK YOU to a veteran, also add…TELL ME ABOUT IT. Again,
Keep the stories alive so we don’t forget.
Dick Swett asked about his most memorable time over there. Dave said meeting General George Patton when he was in the infirmary.
PLEASE, LET’S REMEMBER THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND THE SACRIFICES THESE MEN, MANY OF OUR RELATIVES MADE FOR OUR FREEDOM…..AND HAVE A SAFE WEEKEND!
