Bulletin For August 5, 2016
Judy G, greeter, welcomed one and all to Bow Rotary.
President Gale called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. sharp.
Attendance: 32 Bow Rotarians, 1 visiting Rotarian, 2 guests and 1 guest speaker for a total of 36.

Announcements:
Bandstand ConcertsDavid S. gave update.  Last week Ben K. was the MC and the crowd was pretty good due to a large cast.   This coming Saturday (8/7) will be the Freese Brothers.
District Golf Tournament - David C. gave update.  Now sold out, but one of the Bow Foursomes needed one additional player.  He also requested 4 Easy-Up tents needed for pickup on the 17th.
Board MeetingPresident Gale stated that the board approved two new members (Skip P. and Betsy P.) to join the Bow Club.
PR CommitteeDonna D. requested a meeting of the committee at 7am this coming Friday (Aug 12).
AuctionNoreen C. stated that she wants “new blood” and sponsors.  Anyone with ideas please reach out to her.

Sargent at Arms (Gerry Carrier):
Fines: Alan K and Linda L for logos.
Birthday: Rick M celebrated his birthday July 23rd, and was wondering if the club would notice since he had skipped last week.  Rick celebrated with an old friend Nick Normandin by having a beer together.
Happy Bucks:
Ken M –  has a new grandchild and was caught up in the Southwest Computer problem last week, forcing him to drive home from Chicago.
Jeanne G. -  reminded the club of the Henniker Beer Company’s launch of a new beer on Thursday Aug 11 from 6 to 11pm.  $25 admission fee.

Raffle:  Jerry K. had the winning ticket but didn't pull the joker.

Program:  Peter I. introduced the speaker, Ben Martin, a football coach at Union College.  Ben gave us a great presentation on his history as a coach, up to the big league (NFL), and why he is now back to coaching college level ball.  His speech really drove the point home of never giving up and always trying as hard as you can to achieve success.   The story of his nickname “Fat Socrates” had everyone laughing, and his core beliefs that Truth, Honesty, Respect equal Loyalty was a fitting message for this group.

Respectfully Submitted,

Nathan Sanel
