President Gerry opened the meeting at 07:30 and Dick shared some inspiration. 

 

Announcements:

• President Gerry made the following announcements:
• Trunk or Treat is on October 26. Mike Gula mentioned it will be a “Wizard of Oz” theme. Bring in lots of candy to distribute.
• Amigos are looking for donations of medication. Cash donations are also welcome.
• Facebook posting are now going up so check it out and register a “like”.
• Polio donations can be made to the foundation this month for a 2 to 1 match.
• The Board approved a $250 grant for a homeless student to participate in a class trip.
• The Board is meeting Monday night.
• The Methodist Church has pumpkins for sale.
• Jerry Kingwill reminded everyone roadside pickup is Saturday morning at 7:30.
• Carol Niegisch reported on the auction. It is time to get items in. So far, there are $21,000 in item value and $9,000 in sponsorships.

Birthdays: Tamar Roberts was in England for her birthday. Her health is good and family is well.

 

• Tanya Frost reminded everyone of the “Taste of New Hampshire” event at the Planetarium.
• Bob Couch has completed the tile work on their new walk-in shower, and it actually works!
• Dave Farr attended Democracy Defense Project at the Institute of Politics.
• Vanessa Palange was happy for this morning’s speakers.
• Mike Griffin was at camp in Errol and did a training run with his daughter for a half marathon.
• President Gerry was conducting a home inspection and Annie Kuster showed up as the new home owner.
• Mike said his granddaughter celebrated her 1-year anniversary and the last year has flown by.

Program: 

Vanessa introduced guest speakers Adam Fanjoy, Deputy Fire Marshall, and Steve Dennis, Investigator in the Fire Marshall’s Office.
 
The office of the Fire Marshall is a part of the Department of Safety. The Fire Marshall oversees the Bureau of Outreach and Education, the Bureau of Building and Safety Inspection, the Bureau of Tramway and Amusement Inspection and the Bureau Investigations.
 
The Bureau of Investigation has 7 investigators who investigate all fatalities resulting from fire or related causes. They also investigate suspicious fires. This year has seen 19 fire fatalities, 5 carbon monoxide deaths and 14 miscellanious deaths.
 
Adam was accompanied by Anthem his 8 year old yellow lab canine fire dog, one of three teams in the state. Anthem is trained to detect ignitable compounds and gave us an impressive demonstration.
