Announcements:
The auction is moving ahead nicely, we will be having auction teams this year for the first. There will be prizes given to the top three team. First prize is a $100.00 gift card from the Granite Group, second is $50.00 worth of raffle tickets. And the third place team has to pay $25.00 back to the club.
Noreen C. talked about visiting new companies and asking for donations.
Ben K. gave a demonstration of best practices in hitting people up to buy raffle tickets.
Donna D. announced the Baker Free Library wreath auction which is a week after the rotary's on Nov 12th.   They are looking for companies or private citizens to make wreaths and donate them to be put in a silent auction to benefit the lower level fund raising effect. Last year over 70 wreaths went up for bidding.
People that are on the list for guest speakers are asked to inform Dave Stack as soon as possible, so that he can put them into the bulletin.
Tom W. informed all that the next roadside clean-up is on Oct. 8th rain or shine.

Birthdays:
Nathan S. celebrated his 48th - his son is attending Champlain College - their daughter is being home schooled and he signed papers to open his second shop in Nashua.

Rob W. went to the movies - he must be a Beatles fan because he went to see 8 Days a Week in Portsmouth.
Dave S. informed us that the slab is in at the safety center so anyone can go up there this week and go roller skating (kidding).
Bill M. jinxed both the Red Sox and the Patriots.
Mike G.  had a wedding anniversary. He also hiked four Mts. in Me. And two in Vt. with his son.
Sandy E. and Tom I. did a Ricky and Lucy impression in announcing their off-spring's wedding.  A great day was had by all.
Karen W. underwent eye surgery. The eyes are doing fine and she is now seeing things better than before.
Dave G. suggested that a better use of the Safety building site might be an ATV park.
John R. went whimsy on us and spoke on the start of his business with the help of the people at the Concord Monitor. Forty-four years later he’s still going strong, congratulations John.
Nathan S. supplied the steed (horse) that Sandy’s husband rode on at his daughter’s wedding this weekend.

Rotary Program:
Jeff K. introduced Diane Hashing as your speaker. Diane spoke about the New Hampshire Children’s Trust. The primary goal is the stopping of child abuse and neglect, she explained the risk factors and when children are most vulnerable to abuse; first born, single parenting and substance abuse are some of the many reasons that abuse happens. The teaching of better parenting practices and how to cope with new born children was part of her talk. She handed out folders with all this information and much more, it was an eye opening half hour.  One that goes under the radar in most communities. At the end she asked that we fill out an evaluation sheet that was in the folder - please do.
