Announcements:
  • Dave Farr – Board meeting on Monday
  • Vanessa Palange – Auction raffle tickets ready. 150 given to Interact Club. Drawing will be on the Friday before event ends
  • Dave Farr – Led further discussion on proposed 3D printer project at BMS. Is it a concern this would be a different approach (once and done projects vs. one with ongoing material needs)? Our goal is to support our local schools. Marcy confirmed this project would not be overstepping the school’s budget process. Dave to compile a materials cost list for further review by the members.

Program: Club Assembly
Barb Griffin provided a summary review of club Sargent of Arms duties and “best practices” for smooth and productive meetings.
  • Scooters sit closer to the door for ease of exit
  • Speaker(s) sits at the front left table to avoid need to meander around the tables. Good problem to have as we get more members and need more tables!
  • Members refrain from conversations to minimize distractions during club business. If needed, move to the entrance way and close the doors to main room. Even better, move to the front porch. Voices carry!
  • Members that can change up where they sit each week to engage with each other and especially with new members. It’s not just signing their book!
  • Members that are able park a little further from the entrance to leave space for those that may need to park closer
  • Members on cleanup minimize distracting from the speaker, to include closing the kitchen door, when needed. Good housekeeping by all members appreciated!
  • Members are mindful of their time spent sharing during Happy Bucks. We love hearing each other’s stories!
Feedback from members indicate extra time for Happy Bucks is preferred than having extra time during breakfast. Members recognize the President sets the pace of the meeting and time for each segment based on the number of announcements, program, etc.

Allocation of time for each speaker should be a set amount of time, rather than “how much time does your speaker need”. The program segment set at 25 minutes has been the norm, allowing at least 5 minutes for Q & A.

Good discussion! I appreciate your support.

Vice. President Dave closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
Respectfully Submitted,
Barb Griffin
