Car show: May 16th, 22 cars pre-registered so far. Fundraising underway with sponsor outreach in progress. Weather forecast is partly sunny and 72 degrees.
Awards night: June 11th at the Baker Free Library.
Work project: April 22nd, clean up Turkey Pond boat ramp parking, in conjunction with the high school service day.
Concert series: Starting the second Thursday in July with 5 shows this year.
District Conference: May 30th.
For their annual international donation this year, the Early Act Club is donating $700 to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation project. Funds will support empowerment kits, back-to-school kits, and health kits. Providing backpacks for children on an Indian reservation in the United States. The project is also providing personal care items for teenagers and the project aims to keep the children healthy and mentally happy.
The reservation is a very poor community with limited resources. Pine Ridge is the poorest Indian reservation in the country.

David Farr told the audience the happy buck funds go towards community projects.
David also shared he had a nice experience at the four-way test speech contest.
His daughter is visiting for Easter, and he’s experiencing a great start in a new job.
Chris Parkinson’s granddaughter's recent performance in a play was excellent.
Mike Griffin had a happy $20 – their families 20th anniversary of moving to Bow.
Brad Able was absent due to a sick daughter and missed the speech contest. His son Trevor received a grant for a program in France this summer and the family plans to visit him on a vacation at the end of the summer in France.
DG Donna for what the Early Act is doing for the Pine Ridge project.
Matt Gatzke paid $1 for a brain cramp that caused him to miss the speech contest he because he was scheduled to take the photos.
Linda Bliss was happy her son from NC came and spent the better part of a week with her.
Vanessa Palange was thankful for the PR support she had at the contest.
Bryant Stevener reminded us that there is a retirement and thank you gathering for Lee Kimball at the Safety Center. Lee was his football coach. Also grateful to Carol Niegisch for the surgeon recommendation she gave him.
Katie Minihan: Four Way Speech success and thanked he committee and non-committee members for helping with the Four Way Speech. Celebrated the students who gave speeches and acknowledged the School Support Committee and volunteers.
Also a thank you to Ben for stepping in as MC until David could get there.

Interact Club Presentation
Emily Hunt, the president of Interact, shared updates.
Recent waypoint sleep-out raised over $1,500 for homeless teens.
Supporting Jennifer Hittle's fundraising for Blood Cancer United. The goal to raise $50,000. Funds raised are for research, advocacy, and support for blood cancer patients.
Interact Club recently hosted events at White Rock, including game nights and arts and crafts.
Program: Katie Minihan - Four-Way Test Speech Contest top three finishers
Katie will have all three students come up one at a time to give their speech starting with the 3rd place finisher. There will be a chance for people to ask them questions after the speeches.
The first speaker is William Albushies, the third-place finisher.
William Albushies: 3rd Place – Topic: "When it comes to Litter, Don't Be a Quitter"
Synopsis: Everyone has seen garbage on the ground while walking but nine times out of ten, nobody picks it up. Without anyone to help clean up the litter, the ecosystem will slowly decay. William has lived in Bow his whole life and sees litter as a severe problem in the community. Litter can be toxic to our drinking water supply. Bring a plastic bag with you on a walk to help pick up some little garbage pieces.
Alicia Johnson: 2nd Place - Topic: “The importance of Scouting America”
Synopsis: Telling the truth is something that needs to be practiced, even when it feels uncomfortable. Honesty isn't just about not lying; it's about having the courage to own your mistakes and do better. As an assistant Senior Patrol leader, fairness is something Alicia thinks about constantly.
Fairness doesn't always mean treating everyone the same. It means giving each person what they need.
Milo Cocola: 1st Place - Topic: "How are you?".
Synopsis: The speaker will apply the Rotary four-way test to the question "How are you?"
Asking "How are you?" is like offering a high five, expecting something in return. The expected response is usually a simple "good" or "not too bad," followed by the same question in return. Conversations rarely develop into something more emotionally significant.
Asker: Do we truly care about the other person's emotional state when we ask? Usually not, unless they look sad or a traumatic event has occurred.
Asked: When we respond with "good," is it the truth? Often, we don't open up, even to friends, because we don't think they care.
Apathetic responses to friends will not build goodwill. A sincere, thoughtful tone can build rapport. Genuine interest in the person is imperative. The speaker found that asking follow-up questions led to more assured friendships.

Question: What inspired you to take part in the contest?
Milo Cocola: Marcy encouraged him and Mr. Cannon mentioned the prize money. He had an idea about applying the four steps to the question "how are you?".
Alicia Johnson: Saw the email and wanted a challenge. Scouting is personal and important to her.
William Albushies: Brother competed last year and won. Also, he gets a free 100 in his public speaking class and wanted to overcome his fear of public speaking.
