  • Roadside pickup scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
  • The Board of Directors voted to match Chris Parkinson’s Pure Water donation
  • The deadline for scholarship entries has passed and it doesn’t look like another extension will be necessary.

Birthdays:
  • As today was Dick Swett’s birthday, the club members did their best “virtual” rendition of “Happy Birthday”. Highlight reel at 11….  Dick had a very good year, is staying active, and feels blessed that he is surrounded by lots of family at this time.
  • Betsey Patten celebrated a birthday and is staying well and noticed her tulips were starting to blossom.
Happy Bucks:    
  • Tamar Roberts – good to see everyone + for the adoption of her new dog 7 weeks ago.
  • Mike Griffin for his family’s 14 year anniversary of living in Bow (today marks the day)
  • Peter Imse drove to MA to visit his daughter and then drove a little further to sing happy birthday to his mom
  • Dean Cascadden thanked everyone for helping with the special meeting and acknowledged that the virtual learning mandate has been very challenging for school districts, and in particular for those children/families with special needs.
  • Ben Kiniry is happy that all three of his teenage children still appear to be getting along, despite the stay-at-home guidelines.
Program:

Ben Kiniry announced the speaker: Dr Christopher Fore, an emergency room physician speaking on the topic of covid-19.
Dr. Fore mentioned that covid-19 appears to be slow to mutate, which is a positive in that immunity within a season is favorable (as opposed to a quick mutating virus in which immunity to one strand may not be enough protection should you contract a varying strand)
Due to the containment strategies of the state, no hospital has seen over capacity – another positive sign.
Although the number of reported cases continues to increase, the ability to remain within capacity has continued – which is the factor that would be more concerning to the health care industry.
Regarding testing, PCR testing is taking longer than expected due to its inherent complexity and limitations in obtaining the necessary components. Antibody testing is challenging due to cross contamination with similar viruses in the coronavirus family. In other words, there’s a 1:5 chance that the test would result in a false positive due to the fact that a person had antibodies that had been produced as a result of some other coronavirus (not covid-19). While the state is capable of performing 250,000 tests per day – the ideal would be 1 million per day.
