Kate Putnam reported the success of the recent CYPN event.

Chris Parkinson – stated that the Halloween event at the High School was all set with volunteers.
Michelle Fortin stated she would be attending the event to sell more Rotary Scholarship Auction Raffle tickets.

Gale Kenison announced that the next Rotary Board Meeting will be held at the residence of Judy Goodnow, all are invited to attend.  Also, though it is not a competition, eh-hem, more Rotarians showed up to clean up Rotary Park than Garden Club members. 

Judy Goodnow  - updated the club on the auction to include the need for volunteers to drop off flyers, put up posters and explained the new bidder card stamping process and the ability to win a scratch ticket.  

Michelle Fortin - encouraged everyone to keep selling raffle tickets and to have them in by next Friday.

Sandy Eldredge – informed the club that there are still opportunities to bring food to the auction and that gifts to the Rotary Foundation can be sent in directly or given to her to be forwarded.

Susan Dyment – of Cultural Homestay International, explained the good work of the organization of having foreign high school students being immersed in our culture and stated the need for club members, and others, to open their homes to these students from November through June.

Rick Berryman, past District Governor discussed the purpose of, and suggested that we should all consider attending, the Rotary Leadership Institute.

 

Fines: Worthy of note, is that Paul Rizzi was not fined for wearing the MCSB logo, must be he is catching on to our scheme.
However, Jon Ruggles continues to pay the price.

Happy Birthday to Jon Ruggles, who was generous enough to provide a donation to the Rotary Foundation. 
Jon stated that it was an interesting year at R & T Electric, it was famine early in the year and feast thereafter. 
Jon will also be distributing flyers over the weekend.  

 

Bill McGonagle made the simple, and may I say appropriate, statement “four touchdowns” enough said.

Donna Deos, was just “Happy”, proof that caffeine is a wonderful thing.

Judy Goodnow is happy that she did not have to take all the Auction flyers home.

Bob Couch had to winterize his vacation home and can’t wait till spring to see how good of a job he really did.

Noreen Christensen stated she is happy that Bob Couch is happy.

Paul Mercier is happy that he was able to visit Canada and took comfort in that the people there also complain about their Government.  He went on to explain that Canada has an earlier harvest, which is why they celebrate their version of Thanksgiving a month earlier.  Seriously, you never know what you will learn at our meetings.

 

Raffle: The winning ticket was held by Rick Berryman, but he was not successful at pulling the joker.

 

Jeannie Gerulskis introduced Melissa Mannon, who is currently the librarian and information specialist at Goffstown High School and a Cultural Heritage Specialist, as well as owner of Archives Info.  Melissa also wrote a book titled “The Unofficial Family Archivist: A Guide to Creating and Maintaining Family Papers, Photographs, and Memorabilia”.

Melissa shared some of her family’s history and how learning about events in her ancestor’s lives has shaped her view of her life and the need to take an interest in our own family legacies.

Melissa expressed the need for our society to see the importance of understanding our heritage, family history, stories passed down to us and to protect and pass on these pieces of history to our children, grandchildren and further down our bloodlines.  On a lighter note, Melissa was kind, and wise, enough to point out that though we may receive resistance from our children/grandchildren, all we need to do is consider their more narcissistic life focus, or in other words, make them apart of the story/history, and we may very well like the story better and get involved.
