  • Matt Gatzke. Auction.  Matt announced that donor letters are being mailed.  Date of the Auction is November 2nd. Theme is “Bow Appetito”!
Sergeant at Arms:
Fines:
  • Peter Imse.  Had a picture in the Business NH magazine, both current picture and youth picture, both without his pin!
Happy Bucks:
  • Noreen Christensen. She and Steve recently went on a cruise. Was a great experience, especially in Prague.
  • Judy Goodnow.  She announced the upcoming golf tournament for Pope Memorial SPCA.  Thursday, September 19th, 9:00 Am at the Lake Sunapee Country Club.
  • Sandy Eldredge.  She also passed around a picture of Peter Imse! It was from when they attended a Rotary Conference, pictured in 50s attire.
  • Chris Parkinson.  He had a recent gathering at his lake house with family and friends.  Hi niece put on a “sparkler show” which triggered a fire of pine needles in his gutters!  The fire was put out!
  • Dean Cascadden.  He let us know that he and others represented our Club at the recent Rotary Golf Tournament.  We did not, however, bring home the trophy.
  • Peter Imse.  He had a trip to Cincinnati with his family.  He has coined the term a “Tamar trip” as there were some issues including a respiratory infection!
  • Mike Griffin.  He shared a “moose story”.  He, his daughter and son were hiking Mt Washington earlier this summer, only to run into a mother moose and baby moose on the trail. No injuries were incurred!
Raffle Winner:  Sandy Eldredge.  Did not pull the joker

Program:
Today was Club Assembly
  • Secretary – absent.  A reminder was made to pay your 2019/2020 dues if you have not done so already.
  • Treasurer-  Paul Mercier announced that we have approximately $31,000 in the Club.  Dues and breakfast fees have been paid, so this is why the balance is so high.  He announced that we have approximately $27,000 in the Foundation.  $22,000 is earmarked for scholarships this year.
  • Sargent At Arms – absent
  • Matt Gatzke announced that he worked with Abby Couhie to purchase backpacks with school supplies, nine in total: 3 for elementary school, 3 for middle school, 3 for high school. They are for students in need.  He would like to see us continue to support this need going forward and to plan more ahead in future years.
  • Club – Michelle Fortin announced that Sandy Bartlett, our cook, will be retiring for June 2020.  A search is being made at current, and 3 vendors are being vetted out.  More news to follow on this topic at future meetings.  She also mentioned that a new computer software system is being purchased, Maestro, primarily for the auction.
  • Vocational- absent
  • New Generations. Jeanne was absent.  Peter Imse announced That Early Act and Inter Act sold 200 wreaths last year independently from our Tree Sale.  There is the potential for them to join us and sell wreaths at our Christmas Tree sale event this coming year.
  • Community Service – Gerry Carrier mentioned that Road Side Pick Up will be our next event in the fall. Also around the corner are the Auction and the Christmas Tree Sales.
  • International.  Dick Swett discussed trying to work with forming a sister club in Sudan.  There has been political turmoil in Sudan.  As things settle down, he thinks there is an opportunity with an initiative called “Build Sudan Now”.  Bow could act as a Mentor Club to establish structure for a new Rotary Club in Sudan. If a grant is approved, RI can match funds.  He will continue to work on this initiative in September and then gage to see if there is interest from our Board and Club to pursue this further.
  • Topic of discussion: Summer concerts.  A few members mentioned their concern for lack of attendance this past year(s). The concert committee will perform a “deep dive” into what can be done differently next year.  Topics included changing the night for the concert to mid week. Also a possible survey was discussed. More news to follow on this topic at future meetings.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mike Griffin
