President Elect Matt opened the meeting at 07:30 am.   In honor of Mother’s Day this weekend, greeter Mike Gula thanked and honored the Rotarians who are mothers by giving out roses. Karen Wadsworth was recognized as the Rotarian who has been a mother the longest - 52 years!

Announcements:
  • Roadside Pickup was very successful- 19 members participated and 89 bags were collected. Members of the community expressed gratitude for this service on the Bow Community Facebook page
  • Interact - 2 members of Interact attended the meeting and reported on recent events - color run, roadside pickup, donation to the hospital boat in Malawi. Their current project is a drive for supplies for the SPCA
  • First Grade readers- Rotarians will read and present books at Dunbarton Elementary on Tuesday May 16 at 8:40 am and at Bow Elementary on Friday May 19 at 8:40 am.
  • Scholarships - Mike Griffin stated that the recipients have been determined and  awards   will be presented soon.
  • Gerry Carrier and Dave Gazaway - Car Show is 5/20. Please sign up to help at the Car Show if you haven’t already.  Volunteers are also needed Friday 5/19 pm to put up signs. The numbers look good in terms of  pre registrations and cars committed.  On the day of the Car Show - Saturday May 20 - Volunteers should park in the Concord Group parking lot.
  • Pavillion - Cobb Hill Construction (Jerry) - materials for the Pavillion will be delivered on Monday May 15th and they will likely be doing the framing on Saturday May 20th.  Prior to that,  boards need to be stained.  Gerry is organizing a staining party on May 15th starting at 1pm.  Please contact Gerry Carrier if you can help.

  3. Bob Couch - happy for a successful trip to Canada to open up his house.  He will be in Canada from the end of May through October.

  4. Vanessa Palange -$1- did clean on Saturday and climbed Mt. Washington on Sunday

  5. Dave Gazaway- $1 - son is hosting a post prom party in their barn.

  6. Ken Moulton - $50 - it is the 50th anniversary of his and Jackie's graduation from Plymouth State College and he will be doing the closing remarks at graduation this weekend.

  7. Judy Goodnow - grateful that Dave gave her the cleaner side of the road for Roadside Pick up

  8. Mike Griffin- thank you to Bob Couch for helping with the scholarship committee

  10.  Bryant Stevener - daughter just diagnosed with a significant medical issue 

 
Program: 

The speaker was Kourtney Soucy, the Director of Patient and Family Services at Concord Hospital overseeing the concierge and complimentary programming for their inpatient population.  Her presentation reviewed these programs. There are many opportunities to volunteer for both patient and non patient contact activities. Further information and a link to sign up to volunteer can be found on the Concord Hospital website.

President Elect Matt closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
