Bob Wester- $5- happy to be back visiting at Bow Rotary.  He is a previous member who joined the club in 1989 but has not been here since he moved to Maine in 2016.

Chris Parkinson - $2 – happy to see Bob Wester here, had fun on annual shopping trip with the family.

Philip Nadeau - $1- appreciates the ugly sweater contest.  He shared a story about a child who picked up coins on the sidewalk and walked over to donate them when he was volunteering ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.

Matt Gatzke - $5 – happy for going out to celebrate his wife Sandy’s “significant” birthday with family.

Linda Bliss - traveling tomorrow with her grandson to see family in northwestern NC.

Steve DeStefano – welcoming Bob Wester and remembering their travels to baseball games together.

Karen Wadsworth - $5 - has neuropathy in her feet and arthritis in her hands and doesn’t move around as well as she used to.  She is grateful to Tamar who brings her to Rotary every week.  Also grateful to Donna Deos who brings her to get her nails done.  She appreciates everyone in Rotary

Dick Swett – Happy to be going to NYC with his family to see Operation Mincemeat on Broadway.

Ben Kiniry – thank you to Bryant Stevener and his excellent chiropractic care which greatly helped Ben’s wife. 

 

Ugly Sweater contest: 12 contestants.  “Best Ugly Sweater Award” went to Bill Ames.

 

Secretary: Bill Ames reported club attendance this past month was 82.4%.  Club has 45 active members and 3 Honorary members.  He will send out a reminder for the final dues payment of the year to those who pay quarterly or biannually.

Treasurer: Tamar Roberts reported on the balances in the Club and Foundation Accounts.

Avenues of Service:

Community Service: – Christmas Trees- Mike Griffin – 60 Wreaths and just shy of 200 trees sold – net profit $4,088.  Will reevaluate tree farm vendor and pricing before next year.

Vocational Service: – Vanessa Palange – nothing new to report at this time.

Club Administration: – Carol Niegisch – nothing new to report

New Generations: – Ryan Anastasi

Interact – 50 members – Ryan is impressed with the motivation that they bring – new projects include socializing with and helping elderly White Rock retirement community members with technology needs. They do a lot of work with the SPCA.

EarlyAct – Peter Imse – a strong group of students – made and sold Potpourri and raised $350 and money was donated to the Red Cross hurricane disaster relief fund, made 52 birdseed wreaths and raised approximately $1000, wrote Holiday cards to be sent to those serving in the military overseas.

Property Management: – Joya Dennehy

All is going well; sandwich quality has improved.

Membership: – Matt Gatzke

Members will be receiving a “Survey Monkey” survey soon to vote for a date to do a game night in late January or early February.

Program: – Judy Goodnow and Barb Griffin

Appreciate members bringing in quality speakers

Publicity/PR: – Vanessa Palange

Appreciates everyone on various committees sending her information about Rotary events so she can publicize them.  She is working on growing relationships with Bow community members.

Chris Parkinson – Amigos has 27 team members going to Honduras, having a packing party in January.  He will be wiring $18,000 to the Danli Honduras Rotary Club today and $13,000 of it will be going towards building a school for autistic children.

District Conference: DG Donna Deos is organizing a conference for May 30^th to be held in Keene at the Best Western. – She requests all members try to go to the conference.  Cost is $60, (includes meals) the keynote speaker is good, the 4 Way Speech Test finalists will be competing there also.  They will be working on a community service project – packing backpacks for the people of the Pine Ridge Reservation, which is the poorest Indian reservation in the country.  – any in kind contributions are welcomed and appreciated.  More information to come soon.

International Grants: Dick Swett – has a new project in Malawi in the works – more to come. 

Scholarship Committee: – Mike Gula – 8 young adults will be coming to collect their scholarship awards and speak at the January 9 meeting - some in person and some on Zoom.

Four-Way Test Speech Contest: – Katie Minihan, Marcy Kelly, Melissa Howard – an email will be coming out after the holidays to committee members to start the planning process.  They are working to set a date.  First Grade Books – working with the vendor – book presentation is in May. 

 

President Dick closed the meeting with a toast to Rotary the world over.
