Program:
President Michelle introduced our speaker, Aaron Labrie and said “today we get to know one of our newest members”.
Aaron said she didn’t really know where to start but I was born in NH and moved to FL at 2.  Her mom was a single mother with four children.  She’s a twin and has an older brother and younger sister.  Graduated from Gilford in 2004.  I was homeless at one point.  I realized that nothing is handed to you, you need to work for it.  When I had my daughter, it motivated me to fight and provide for her.  She graduated college in 2009 for Early Childhood Education.  I taught preschool and kindergarten.  I started working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and was a branch manager.  I grew a lot there.  However, I didn’t have a life outside of the job and really felt I was missing out on my life and my daughters’.  An Allstate Insurance Rep approached me, and I decided to study insurance and got my license.  I was working on going through IVF treatment, and unfortunately it failed.  Three days later I interviewed (2021) and soon started my 17 week internship.  I’m a fighter and get things done.  I’m an over-planner and over-thinker.  I’ve become a leader.
Proud to be a part of State Farm as they do a lot for their communities and enjoys taking this path.  Sadly currently going through a divorce, but it’s for the good.
Questions:
  • Gerry Carrier : What made you come to Rotary?
    • I saw something on Facebook so I emailed Ben.  When I was in high school I did things in the community and wanted to get back involved.
  • Michelle Fortin: What was the hardest part of working for Enterprise?
    • The hours, expectations and the customers.
  • Michelle: Where do you find the cars?
    • Sometimes you just find them.
  • Dean Cascadden: Do you miss teaching? “We have openings” LOL
    • I still feel I am a teacher.  I feel like I learned my patience from doing that.
  • Matt Gatzke: With your agency being local, is it hard to connect with clients as it’s mostly done online now?
    • I follow up with them all and I plan to do open houses and customer appreciation events to stay connected.  Texting with them also helps, and I like that they don’t have to call a 1-800 number and go through that process.
  • Michelle: What do you hope to get out of Rotary?
    • I feel like I’ve already gotten a lot out of it.  I enjoy being with people and here I feel supported humble.
  • Tanya Frost: What is your daughter into?
    • She like ballet for a minute and did soccer for two weeks. I think she’ll be a theatre person.  She’s very animated
  • Michelle: Were you part of interact in high school?
    • I was involved with SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions). This program would stage mock car crashes to educate kids on the bad things that can happen.

President Michelle thanked Aaron and gave a “Toast to the Rotary and the world over”.

Respectfully Submitted,
Tanya Frost
