“Mr.” John Ruggles: Wife continuing her recovery from a very serious infection, and his granddaughter returned from Spain. Chris Parkinson: Ricardo reported that repairs to the John Sheridan School have been completed. Tom Wilson: Jon Ruggles reported that Tom had a black bear in his front yard on Logging Hill Road this morning; Peter Imse: Happy for Flags Across Bow program, which he encouraged us to sign up for; Eric Anderson: A happy dollar for 16 years on the Club’s board of directors and 13 as Secretary. Thank you Eric! He is happy to turn over his responsibilities to Bill McGonagle, however.
Raffle: Caleb Gazaway pulled the winning ticket, which was Bryant Stevener’s…but alas no Joker… Presentation of Paul Harris Fellow Award Dave Gazaway provided a background of the Paul Harris Fellow award, and its importance to the Rotary Foundation. He then had the honor and pleasure to award a Paul Harris Fellow award to his wife, Wendy Gazaway, in recognition of all of her work in support of many Bow and Bow Rotary Club activities. Wendy received a standing ovation. Tom Ives: Vocational Talk Tom Ives then presented with respect to his almost lifetime of experience with NH Bindery. Tom covered various aspects of the history of printing and the old NH Bindery building on South Main Street in Concord; the relocation of the bindery to Bow several years ago; and the work that the present bindery does for a range of special clients. Tom (with Suzanne’s able assistance) also played a video and circulated a number of beautiful examples of the bindery’s work. Tom also owns Bogside Publishing, and provided the members with a sample of its work. In response to questions, Tom explained a bit more about the machinery that is used at the bindery, their source and age, and how few independently owned binderies remain in New England.
