Paul Mercier was greeter. His message invoked to beauty of the autumn colors and he exhorted members to mind their civil duty to vote (despite the fact he will be out of the country).

Announcements:
Tom Wilson reported on the Roadside Cleanup effort on Saturday, 10/8/16 when 5 Bow Rotarians participated and collected 19 bags of trash.
Harry Judd reported that the election officials need volunteers from both parties to help out with the responsibilities on Election Day, 10/8/16. Please email him if you are interested in volunteering.
Donna Deos announced that annual Wreath Auction in support of the Baker Free Library will be held on Saturday, 11/12/16 at the library from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
Chris Parkinson made two announcements.
- First, to urge members to attend Rotary Expo event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua on Thursday, 11/10/2016. This event costs $25.00 per person.
- Second, the Amigos of Honduras which normally has multiple residents and doctors from Concord Hospital participating has no residents or physicians volunteering this year. If anyone knows of any physicians who might volunteer, let Chris know.
Michelle Fortin introduced members of the Auction Committee to report.
- Jeff Kipperman reported that we have $11,750.00 in sponsors thus far! He also noted that each table was provided a sign-up sheet for the auction duties.
- Sandy Eldredge reported on the evening’s food. They plan to have pulled BBQ pork, some sort of chicken and falafel. All of which can be eaten in a bun. If you have crock pots available please let her know.
- Michelle reported that Bob Couch is working on the posters for businesses remotely and they should be ready for printing shortly.
Fines:

- Dave Gazaway cited an oft-overlooked and obscure policy of the Bow Rotary Club that if a member had a published photo that was not brought forward by any other member for four weeks, then the pictured member can require that every member be fined a dollar. It was unclear to this lowly scribe if this policy was been enforced.
- Skip Poole was noted for having his picture published in the Bow Times.
- Noreen Christensen was fined for a photo she was unaware had be published.
Happy Dollars:
- Dave Gazaway was happy to have spent 5 days at the AACA Hershey (PA) Region flea market and car show.
- Rob Werner announced he and his wife were headed for Cape Ann on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the fried clam! Who knew?
- Alan Kanegsberg recounted sailing in Vineyard Sound off Cape Cod to spread the ashes of Mark Handley who was a dear friend. He also spoke of going to San Francisco for a sailing regatta with his son, daughter in law and grandson. They enjoyed fine weather and aerobatics by the Blue Angels.
- Bill McGonagle was happy that he and his wife celebrated their 30th anniversary this week.
- Dean Cascadden was happy to announce that this weekend is Bow High School Homecoming with a bonfire this evening and games of several teams scheduled to be played on Saturday. He noted that with Bow HS’s promotion to Division II all the teams are doing quite well.

This week’s speaker was introduced by Linda Lorden.
Scott Maslansky of the Jordan Institute’s NH C-PACE Initiative gave a very informative talk about issues around energy efficiency in business and government buildings. NH C-PACE has been helping entities manage and finance projects for energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Scott outlined some of the reasons for pursuing energy saving projects; financial benefits and return on investment, worker comfort and increased productivity, local and global environmental concerns and seizing the initiative when existing systems need replacement. For governmental entities the benefits include the above as well as enhancing the ability to retain and attract businesses and increased value of buildings.
Scott noted that these efforts start with conservation of energy used first, and then proceeding to increasing efficiency of energy systems. He went on to address the concentration of NH energy use in fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, propane). NH C-PACE starts with helping entities with benchmarking; cataloging their energy use patterns over several years and then conducting and energy audit which often includes forensics such as infra-red imaging. These benchmarking activities can lead to the developing a plan and prioritizing steps.
