President Ma opened the meeting at 07:30 and Eric shared some inspiration and the Four-Way Test.

• Tom Ives: 13 people helped with road side pick up. Great job by all.  Dick Swett will help clean up the last section was not able to be finished.
• David Gazaway - Car show May 18th, 48 cars preregistered.  Gerry Carrier handed out some flyers, posters are available.  Gerry Carrier added that you should sign up or we will sign you up.  Interact is helping with 8 to 12 volunteers.  T-shirts and bags are coming in the week before. Still looking for 100 items of “goodies” to put in the goodie bags.
• Bryant Stevener - Community Awards and Recognition night is June 20th.  Please make your nominations this week for the 5 nominatable categories.
• Dave Farr and Tanya Frost - Concert series is coming together but we have one night to fill.  Please feel free to make suggestions.
• Dick Swett - Grow food in Malawi (sp?) is going well, They bought land are now growing corn.

• Durwood Sergeant - had a great time at road side pick up and was happy Gerry was there to tell him how to get home
• Eric Anderson - He enjoyed road side pick up, but someone picked it up for him so he just went and got some coffee.
• Vanessa Palange - had a great class this week for professional development
• Matt Gatzke - Took a NYC vacation with his wife and some office coworkers and had a great time walking 60 blocks one day.  He also went to the NYC weed festival accidentally but he didn’t partake in any of their special goods.  He also saw Barry Manilow.
• Judy Goodnow - had a great birthday and thanks for singing club!
• Bob Couch - Happy to have no crutches!!
• Joya Dennehy - Great NYC trip and Barry Manilow was a great show!
• Gerry Carrier - Heading to PETS (President Elect Training). for some training.  Excited to see the Four Way Speech finals.
• Matt Dodge - Happy to be surrounded good club members, Tinan who set up his new cars electric charger and then Dave Gazaway for helping him with insurance as he was rear ended on his third day driving it and then club Sponsors Banks for helping repair it.

Program: 

Michelle Olivier  -  Fraud Week and invited some friends from the bank to discuss what is happening.

Transferring money to a stranger is the most common fraud.

Topics included who they like to target and how.  Imposters of family, government, lottery. 

Best advice, don’t act immediately.  The fraudsters like to push you to act fast, and slowing down can make it easier to spot fraud.  Find their number online and call them back.  Look for common payment types like Bitcoin transfers, paypal,, gift cards and other electronic transfers.

Another common example is grandchild in trouble asking grandparents for help.

Government scams are common, be sure to report these to the actual agency so they can open a case.

Romance scams are different and work on the longer relationship game. They build trust and then ask for something to play on that caring.  Look for things like not meeting in person, not meeting on camera, and falling in love too quickly.

Text scams just want a reply or will send a note that you’ve signed up for something and pop up a text message right on your computer.

Lottery scams are less common but do happen.  Sounds like “send us a check so we know where to deposit your money”

Key take away, slow down, ask questions, think twice, and remember there is no such thing as free money.
