Announcements:
  1. Rick Minard announced the “Newish” Member Event….a Beer Party!! The meeting will be held at Litherman’s Brewery, Hall Street on February 24 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
  2. Dave Stack reported that on Saturday night the 18th, a spaghetti dinner and sledding under the lights would take place.

Sargent at Arms:
Fines: Gerry Carrier fined Steve Destefano for his printed picture

Happy Bucks:
  1. Chris Parkinson gave a happy buck for his trip to Mysore, India (although he was bummed that he missed the Superbowl). He will be giving us a presentation of his trip in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
  2. Alan Kanegsberg paid a happy buck for three glorious weeks in Florida. Good for you Alan!!
  3. Dean Cascadden was happy (to the tune of $2) that today is “random acts of kindness day” and he was thankful for being part of Rotary!!
  4. Jeannie Gerulskis paid a happy (?) buck for a rough day the other day…..it seems that she received a gift from an old boyfriend, which was wrapped in a calendar, and the present was a calendar (How Odd!) I think the happy buck was for the decision to kick him to the curb!!??
  5. Steve DeStefano paid $20 for his daughter, Alison, who gave birth to a baby boy!! In addition, his daughter, Kimberly, will be flying home to meet her new nephew.
  6. Donna Deos paid a happy buck for her new knowledge of “scientific hand analysis” and is looking for 100 hands to scientifically analyze!! Me first please!!
  7. Michelle Fortin was very happy that her kids Brooke and Eric were home and were on a skiing trip. Eric will be moving to SF for his position with Charles Schwab.
  8. Bryant Stevener paid a happy buck for his 15th annual boy’s trip, which happened to be in Deer Valley this year and, while there, was lucky to meet a potential client who happens to be his neighbor’s friend?? Small world….!!
  9. Harry Judd paid a happy buck for with for Chuck and Jerry. This is an interesting story….it seems Harry returned on a red eye flight on Friday morning, was brought (I am guessing) directly to Rotary which Chuck delivered clothes and boots to him (as he was prepared for our weather based on his travel location) and Jerry gave him a ride to his office. I do not know how he got home but I am glad he had his boots….

Raffle:  Steve DeStefano picked the winning raffle ticket number that Dave Gazaway possessed but did not pick the Joker.

Program:
A lovely presentation was given by our women of Bow Rotary. Jeannie Gerulskis, Karen Wadsworth, Michelle Fortin, and Jeannie Richards talked about the early days of Rotary and the challenges that women faced as clubs were wrestling with the idea of allowing women as members. Each shared their personal stories and some experiences they faced during this important historical time of Rotary.

Respectfully Submitted,
Jeff Kipperman

Because of You, We Live

The story of an incredible World War II couple - George Stalnaker, an American pilot forced to parachute out of his crippled bomber after destroying the last bridge the Nazis could use to reinforce troops at Normandy, and Simone de Cruzel, a member of the French Underground and spy for Britain who was captured, imprisoned, and put on Death Row after her identity was compromised. George and Simone manage to survive, meet, and fall in love. They may have been born world apart but they were alike in one important way – heroism was in their DNA!
