- Thank you notes from: a student at Bow Elementary School with very nice penmanship but no name, and Melissa Howard from VNA, who spoke a few weeks ago.
- District Gala is Thursday, November 15th at the Courtyard Marriott in Nashua, from 6-9 pm. Sign up at District website.
- Christmas Tree sign up is moving around; several “last day” signers as well as some illegible signers.
- Sunday, November 25th is Santa’s visit to Bow at the Gazebo. The tree will be lit and cookies are needed. Deliver to Parks & Rec. Event is from 5-6:30 pm.

Program:
Ken Moulton announced this week’s speaker: Dr. Mark Rubenstein, President of Granite State College.
Dr. Rubenstein feels their greatest challenge is to become known. 80% of what they do is on-line. Time and cost are the greatest obstructions for these students. The goal of the college is to provide a cost effective, time efficient, practical as well as high quality degree.
Median age of students is 33; 1 in 7 is still in the military or has military service; 90% of the students work in NH. 40% are Pell Grant eligible.
The College works hard to capitalize on what their students already know, through military education, on the job education for certain disciplines, and in some cases, life experience. Many of the College’s faculty work in the fields they teach.
Office of Financial Aid: helps with expenses, identifies possible resources and dollars specifically available for adult learners.
Succession in the work force: employers need to identify potential and nurture it; many of the College’s courses are designed to enhance what students can bring to their employers.
Dr. Rubenstein sees health care as the greatest area for potential employment.
The College wants to expand their validation capabilities; develop programs which provide reciprocity of credentials from one state to another so that potential retirees want to come to NH.
