Announcements:
  • President Ben announced that the Changing of the Gavel will take place on July 15th (New Date)
  • No Rotary meeting on July 1st, the start of the July 4th Holiday weekend
  • DGE Randell Barklay introduced Rotarian Helene Visser, from Blouberg South Africa, Foundation Chair who presented Bow Rotary with a Certificate of Appreciation for participating in a Global Grant with District 9350.  This grant enabled District 9350 to purchase Sonar Bronchoscope equipment for Tygerberg Children’s Hospital. 
  • Other distinguished visiting Rotarians included: Maddy Weber, Grahamstown Sunset, S.A.; Ian Robertson DE 9350, Claremont S.A.; Diane Barclay, Fairhaven, VT Rotary Club; Tony Gilmore, PDG 7870, Capital City Rotary and David Farr, guest of President Ben.
  • Dunbarton first grade students wrote notes thanking Bow Rotary for providing books.
  • President Ben read a note from Shannon Luby thanking Rotary for the scholarship money she received.
  • Peter Imse thanked those who have signed up to assist at the summer concerts, and asked that those who have not volunteered help to fill the few empty spots. 
  • Jeanne Richards regretfully resigned from the Club as she is transferring to a Rotary club  
  • closer to her new home.  She received a standing ovation and thanks for all she has done as a Bow Rotarian.  We will miss her.

Happy Bucks:
Tom Ives: Celebrating 50 years with his company
Matt Gatzke: Matt & his wife attended her 45th college reunion in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Matt was also happy that school is out, as there is far less traffic on his road.
Dave Gazaway: Celebrated 21 years of marriage to his first wife, and his son’s graduation.  Also happy for Dr. C’s musical performance at the gazebo on Thursday.
Dean Cascadden: Happy for the last day of school and thankful for Rotary’s support. 
Bryant Stevener: Happy $20 for time with daughter before she leaves for camp counseling and college.
Linda Bliss: Happy/sad – son & daughter-in-law & family moving to N.C.  But, grandson staying with her for the summer.
Randell Barclay: One day conference in Killington on November 6th.  Lots will be happening.
Tamar Roberts: Thanked Jeanne for all she has done.  Also, had surgery on Wednesday and leg bone (fibula) is now fused.
Ben Kiniry: Happy $18 for son’s birthday, graduation and will enter the Navy on July 11th.
Tony Gilmore: Three talented Rotarians will exhibit the skills of photography, wood working and clay artistry (Pixels, Wood & Clay) at Two Villages Art Society in Contoocook from August 13 – September 9th
 
Program: Dick Swett introduced speaker Tim Horgan, Executive Director of the World Affairs Council of N.H. (WACNH) Tim is U-Conn graduate with a B.A. in Latin American studies  and concentration in political science.  He is married and has a 2-year-old daughter.  Tim joined the WACNH in 2009 as an AmeriCorps member where he managed and implemented the international visitors’ programs in N.H. and transitioned to the WACNH Executive Director position in 2018.  
The mission of the WACNH is to promote understanding of world affairs among the citizens of New Hampshire.  The Speakers Program engages presenters from around the country, from people like Chuck Hagel, former Secretary of Defense to local political candidates.  Then there are the International Leadership and the International Exchange Programs
The Academic World Quest engages NH students in the Global High School Trivia Challenge.  The winning team competes in the national competition.
