Alistair's Acclimations

Liam Boundy from NBN Co gave us a great presentation last Thursday. He was certainly all over the technology space and I am each of us came away with a couple of good tips.

I would like to thank Geoff Kapernick for his conspicuous dedication to the Youth projects within our Club. His commitment to the St Saviours Interact Club is most commendable.
Ron Bowden has a RYDA day lined up for us to help out with. Wednesday April 2nd is the date and contact Ron if you can assist.

As I mentioned last week the Club Board met on Wednesday 12th and the big issue was the proposed Satellite Club that some members for RC Toowoomba South (RCTS) wanted our Club to establish. The Board agreed that the proposal wasn’t going get overwhelming support from our Club members.
The Members from RCTS and our Club have agreed that we should proceed with a more “gently gently” approach.
The planned social dinner meeting between our Club members and the guys from RCTS is on Tuesday 1st of April at The Irish Hotel (Tara Room) – 6.00pm for 6.30pm.
Buy your own meals. I would encourage everyone who is able to make it along that evening to do so.
This is an opportunity to assimilate 10-12 enthusiastic Rotarians in the age bracket of 45-65 years into our Club.
I would encourage each of you to come along and meet these guys and make up your own mind.

Peter Nalder and Tony Jarroush will be leading the project to clean out the shipping container that is now at Tentworld and prepare it to become the new home for out Club gear. Keep an eye out for the working bees they will be arranging.

The District Conference is this coming weekend at the Empire Theatre.
Henry Campey will lead our team of sergeants and it is the intention to set a great example of what our Club can do. The Sergeants training session starts at 2.00pm on Friday.
The Say No to DV walk will be happening on the Friday afternoon (28th March) and I will be chasing as many participants from our Club as possible

I also mentioned last week that the District has decided that our Club’s application for a District Grant was successful. Will receive $2500 to go towards the building of the Yarning circle at Teen Challenge. This puts a shortish timeline on the completion of this project so I am looking forward to hearing from the guys who will drive this.

I looking forward to hearing to hearing from our very own Cameron Ashmore this Thursday – He will be telling us about his time in the Qld Fire Service.

Regards
Alistair
