John McVeigh gave us a great update on the work of the Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) on Thursday. The different jobs that John has held in his working life is very impressive. Until recently he was the Chair of TSBE and he is now the CEO. John also takes over as Chancellor at the University of Southern Queensland within the next couple of weeks

 

The Club Christmas Party is booked for Saturday the 30^th and Rob Baryla and his team have a great concept planned for us at Laurel Bank gardens under the cover of the Park Hall. Chilli and Barney will be there playing some Christmas tunes, Santa is likely to visit and it will be a lovely catered festive lunch.

So far we don’t have sufficient numbers to make the event happen

I know we also have commitments to help out at the Dalby Stock Horse sale and it is a busy time year.

Thank you to the guys who have volunteered to conduct the BBQ at the Hospice Carols evening on Sunday 24^th. Thanks also to Steve Davis who put his hand up to lead the team.

 

I spoke again at our Thursday meeting about the implementation of ClubRunner. The Board has a desire to have every member and honorary member downloading the ClubRunner App onto their smart phone. Roger has produced a one-page cheat sheet on how to do this and sent it out to everyone again last week. I also spoke again of the need to get everyone to edit their data so that the system can work most efficiently. Lastly I mentioned that I want each of you to register for the ClubRunner event “member data update test” – this is the indicator the Board is using to assess the progress of the uptake. So far we have 10 of the 46 members and 10 honorary members updated and I requested last Thursday that it would be ideal if we can push that to 20 by our next meeting. If you get stuck help is available from the guys in the ClubRunner working group – Roger K, Mark R, Henry C, Geoff S and myself.

 

The District 9620 Conference is on at the Empire Theatre from 28^th to 30^th of March next year. I have spoken previously of the need to have a “head sergeant” to lead our team of 12 sergeants who will be responsible for coordination and ushering duties during the conference. I am very pleased to announce that Henry Campey will undertake that role.

 

The next RC Board meeting will be conducted at the YellowBridge Board room this coming Wednesday evening - 13^th of November.
