Mark Norman from the Toowoomba Rotary Club gave a great presentation on the revegetation of the area surrounding the Millmerran Power Station. There were plenty of questions from members and I am sure we all learnt something useful from Mark’s talk.
Mark & Liz Norman have been regular participants in our Club Events over the years including the last LWG in August 2024.
Wendy Byron (RC Toowoomba Metropolitan) zoomed in to seek a couple of our members to participate in a “Rotary Clubs of Toowoomba” short entertainment piece at the District Conference on March 29th. So far I have nominated Humph !! and I know Roger wants to but he will “busy as” over the Conference. Any one who is keen – please contact me.
I showed the meeting the 70th Anniversary magazine that was sent to us by the RC of Takatsuki in Japan. Our Club had a strong relationship back 20-25 years ago. Thanks to the guys who had fun using Google translator to give us an idea of what they said in the magazine introduction.
A subtle reminder that our own Club will have it’s 50th Birthday in a little over 12 months’ time!

The next President’s Drinks have been scheduled for Phil Gillam’s man cave / bar on Friday 28th of February. BYO drinks from 4.30pm to 6.00pm.
The proposition from the guys at RC Toowoomba South about them becoming a Satellite Club of our own Club has caused considerable discussion. The idea is in the very early stages of discussion and I will keep all of the members updated before we get even close to contemplating a decision.
The District Conference is only a few weeks away.
The Club needs to be well represented as conference delegates and also need our team of sergeants (ably lead by Henry Campey) to set a great example of what our Club can do.
The Say No to DV walk will be happening on the Friday afternoon and make sure you order your purple shirt from the Secretary.
Henry Campey has already sent out the email detailing the logistics of our vocational visit this coming Thursday

- 1:15 - 2:00pm – Presentation about Momentum Health services and a Tour of the Facilities.

The RCTE Board has endorsed Momentum Health Services as one of the beneficiaries of funds raised by OBG 25, so your support for this visit is requested.
It is an opportunity to see first-hand the significant contribution Momentum Mental Health Services provides to referred clients in Toowoomba, Warwick and Chinchilla.
The last item I want to raise in this President’s column is the issue of the
cost of late apologies.

The Board has agreed that from March 1st any member who gives a late apology or no apology at all will be invoiced for $20.
This will be regardless of whether the lunch numbers given by the secretary to the Downs Club on Tuesday are up, down or exact.
